Would not be coming here again in a rush. The place was empty could count on one hand how many customers were here! It took ages for our meal to arrive, the person who served us was very miserable. Will not be recommending this place. On top of this our food was warmish but with waiting so long could not be bothered for it to be warm up For what we had was a bit on the expensive side.

When you get off the train you will find this down a little alley. They sell chilled drinks, hot drinks, pies, cakes, ice cream and much more. We sat at a table and chatted to Roger who was interested in our 1960s map! We were sorry to dash off to catch our little steam train back. Do pop in their deserve your custom as nothing was too much trouble!

Part of a series of reviews for a weekend in Matlock. Opening morning we stopped in here for breakfast. I do like a good full english when away. My wife is a little more refined in tastes but was happy to acquiesce! There is nothing wrong with this place. Its not a greasy sppon, but its not a coffee shop. It is a cafe.Food was alright. portions were good, speed of service fine and friendly. Alternative options available. Price in the region you'd expect. I feel a bit bad giving only 3 circles. This was above average, but not very good. It was perfectly functional and I would return. But if I was local I'd not be nailed on to be a regular.

Fresh, local food with an honest approach served in a welcoming yet eclectic setting. Mercia was born out of a shared family passion with three simple ideas at itâs core; high quality local produce, wholesome food and great service. Youâll find us in Wirk
Popped in on a Sunday morning whilst visiting the town... friendly staff and looked like a good menu. We only had a cuppa and cake which was good but expensive (4 cuppas and 4 pieces of cake = £24!)

Well presented Coffee shop/tearooms nestled in a listed building surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Derbyshire Dales. Offering a medley of quality local items on the menu such as baked breakfast goods, cream tea, sandwiches, paninis, jacket potato
Like others have said we were struggling to find somewhere decent in Matlock Bath where we could get something light to eat. Iâm so glad we found this lovely little cafe. We had the best toasted sandwich ever. It was really fresh and tasty & really reasonably priced. The staff were very polite & efficient and the cafe was spotlessly clean. Make sure you check this place out!

I have visited the bookshop previously but hadnât had the chance to sample anything from the cafe until just last week. As a meat eater I do enjoy the odd foray into the vegetarian side of food but have never sampled vegan cuisine. Iâve heard good things about the homity pie they do so was looking forward to trying one for myself. We visited as a family on a wet Tuesday quite lateish on in the day to find they only had one veggie homity pie left but a couple of vegan ones too. I drew what I thought may be the short straw and took the vegan one! I confess to be really surprised as there was no discernible difference between the two. As good as, if not the best, homity Iâve had! The generously sized warm garlicky pie came with a tasty side salad with some pulses and grains which was enhanced by a home made honey and mustard dressing. One of us had a warm cheese scone which looked and smelt delicious. There were a couple of wonderful looking cakes available but I was sadly too full to be able to tackle a big slice of the red velvet one - maybe next time. The cafe is a real little hidden gem most definitely worth a visit and as expected the bookshop itself is still fabulous!

Our cafe is set in the beautiful award winning surroundings of hall leys park, we offer a wide range of light lunches, snacks and cakes many of which are homemade. We are open daily from 10am and offer indoor and outdoor seating, we also supply golf pitch
I called here for breakfast one day and lunch the other with different family members. The1st day I had full English with americano and the second Ploughmanâs platter. Others had full English too and tuna mayonnaise with jacket potato salad and coleslaw. Great tasting food in a nice setting and customer service really good on the 1st day

Called in to this lovely cafe on a wet miserable Monday lunch. The friendly owner greeted and and we made our selection from the specials board, there is also a menu with something for everyone. The food arrived shortly afterwards and using good quality fresh produce, oh and the rye bread used with the Welsh rarebit was so delicious......!There were a selection of home made cakes on display which looked delicious. We will certainly be returning to sample more dishes and thoroughly recommend.

Stayed here for one night during a long-distance cycle ride in early June 2019 and couldn't be happier: the twin room was clean, welcoming and perfectly equipped with a bath and a shower. Had to check in later than expected and owner Anne couldn't have been more helpful. Full English breakfast next day was one of the best I've ever had. If you're staying in Bonsall, be mindful that dining options on an evening are very limited: the King's Head wasn't open on Saturday night (looks like it's closed down?) and the Barley Mow stops serving food at 7.50... they did take pity on us after 90 wet miles on the bike with a couple of simple sandwiches. Can't praise The Fountain more highly.
