Although a gelato tea house might seem like a strange combination, I guess the way to ensure you have business year round is to offer a warm weather and cold weather product. However, when my party of four walked into An Ran Ju last month, three of us got gelato and one--that would be me--got a hot tea with boba. The tea I chose was a loose leaf caramel rooibos and it was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the boba were not sweetened. Although making the tea took a long time, I appreciated the attention to detail that the server had in the process.I sampled the pistachio and strawberry gelatos, and both were excellent. They were not too sweet and the flavors were not artificial. I will definitely be visiting again on my next trip to Big Bear.Wishing you love and romance,Aviva VaughnAuthor of slow burn women's fiction inspired by food, travel, and Jane Austen.

Scratch restaurant well known for freshly prepared food with quality ingredients. Indoor and outside patio seating. Menus are available on the restaurant website.
Really enjoyed this quaint cafe in Fawnskin, I had the pepper burger with coleslaw and it was so good. They do not offer up fries but the pineapple coleslaw made up for it. Will be going back to try some of the other delicious sounding things on the menu. Service was friendly and timley.

Biscuits and gravy: bland gravy overflowing the plate, challenged to find the biscuit, eggs and meat. I gave up. My companion had obnoxiously huge pancakes, came w/eggs & sausage. If 4 more people joined us maybe we could have justified the amount of food. We also had to have the charge for orange juice that never came removed from the bill. If you want enormous portions mediocre food, this is your place.

Good food at reasonable prices. Good music. Fun and relax atmosphere. Weâve been to a lot of restaurants in Big Bear this winter. On our last Saturday night here this season we wanted to go somewhere different and a local person suggested Wyattâs, saying its inside the convention center. I didnât know there was a convention center in Big Bear; I thought maybe its like a food court in the convention center. So we get there, right across from Motel 6, you have to enter its parking lot from Division Road. This is definitely more of a âlocalâ restaurant; you wouldnât know there is a restaurant there driving by. We enter the building and the whole âconvention centerâ is Wyattâs. Nice country western decoration on the walls, on the ceiling, with a band stand. Most seats are long bench seats (with view towards the band); there are some seats by the ordering area too. Youâd walk up to the ordering window, then they bring the food out to you.We got a mushroom burger with salad, wings, and a cheese burger with fries. The burger was very good, and big. Beef patty was thick and juicy. Priced at less than $10 (burger and a side), it was very reasonable (compared to others at $13-14 with smaller burger). Wings were OK, slightly hard. The added bonus was the music. Band started playing at 6pm. They played mostly country music, but also some Beatles, and even recent hit Perfect by Ed Sheeran. If you like country music, good burger and beer, then try this place.

We have tried every other breakfast place in Big Bear and hands down Lumber Jack has good service, healthy portions, and made to order food. For 2 people its 29.00 dollars. Place is always busy so expect a wait to get the food out to table. Fresh coffee and unlimited refills, just ask. We found out it is family owned and operated.

The only negative is no mimos or bloody mary's! Otherwise this place absolutely rocks. Old school diner style food. Bad a** hashbrowns. Super yummy bacon. Huge pancakes. Biscuits & Gravy. Everything you would want and need in a breakfast and always cooked to perfection. Large portions. Totally reasonably priced. Service on point. Yeah, you're a little crammed in and if you show up after 8am you might have a wait, but its worth it.
