Vintage tea rooms serving a selection of teas, cakes, soups, sandwiches and pie of the day, all freshly made. Afternoon tea our speciality (advance booking required). A cosy venue for private functions.
I have recently visited and I was very impressed. We were shown to a table and after deciding what we wanted were served efficiently and pleasantly. I was meeting a friend there so we had a lot to catch up on so we were there quite a long time but never felt rushed at all by the staff. The selection of cakes were brilliant and the tea was first class. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Once inside our tea rooms visitors will experience the authentic charm of yesteryear, open fires, original Lancashire range and may more original features whilst enjoying a traditional afternoon tea or if you prefer order from our menu of hearty dishes fr
I have visited the tea rooms on a number of occasions and as my mum was visiting for the weekend I booked afternoon tea using a Groupon voucher. We arrived early which didnât appear to be a problem and we were promptly seated. We had our Prosecco and then our tea and food arrived. Although at first sight it didnât look enormous we were stuffed by the end of it so it was just right. Thank you.

Great place for food at any time but my particular favourite here is the breakfast. You can reserve a table which is a good idea as breakfast time is very popular, packed on a Sunday. Really nice porridge! Love it. Not your bog standard breakfast choices either. Lots of lovely ideas and will change if you want a mix of things. Lovely staff too. I bought a few friends and family their Christmas presents from here getting them vouchers for a breakfast and afternoon tea. Lovely

Cafe/Restaurant in the refurbished Georgian old Library building, serving tasty, freshly prepared and locally sourced food in a friendly and relaxed environment. Fully licensed. Excellent access and facilities for children and the disabled. Good parking.
Go here quite often but today, a little disappointed. Always a good choice menu and today, my favourite .....cheese and onion pie. It came looking lovely, with a golden crust and wonderful filling........but with a grey bottom, pastry not fully cooked. Mentioned it quietly to a waiting member of staff, to inform the chef as there was a large table of ladies who may want to order it. The disappointment was - the waitress didnât say sorry and the waitress never came back with word/reason from the chef. All duly ignored. Didnât want or expect a small discount off bill but did want, an acknowledgement/apology at least.Staff and main course food very good but not today. Must add my pudding was excellent.Hi ElaineI'm so sorry to hear this. I remember the message did get through to the kitchen as I happened to be in there at the time. I thought whoever served you was heading back to apologise and offer you something else but it seems they must have got waylaid. It is easy to get distracted when we are busy but it's no excuse and we do try to give as good a service as we can. I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed your pudding at least ! Apologies once again. Regards Lynne

Canalside cafe and licensed restaurant with a warm welcome and fresh food made with local produce. The kitchen is open in the daytime until 3pm Sunday - Thursday and until 4pm Friday and Saturday. We serve cooked breakfast in the morning until 11.30am fro
We called in today. For lunch. We were able to sit on the balcony and enjoy the weather. We ordered 2 coffees and a shared platter. Coffee was strong and tasty. The server came out with 2 plates for our sharing platter. However, the plates were chipped in several places and bit off putting. We decided to let it be as didnât want to make too much fuss. When the platter came we were overwhelmed by the array of colour and tasty food. Then, as we worked through the delicious food we noticed the platter plate itself was chipped. . What a disappointment. As we left I took a slow walk past the crockery area and noted most of the plates were chipped. Surely this is a health and hygiene issue? Possibly using cheap crockery?Having said this, I have been to the Kava several times with no chipped plates. Give this place a go. Worth it. But ask for un-chipped plates which we will do in future. Thank you for your helpful feedback. It is true we have a challenge with plates with chipped edges although we do throw away plates that are chipped or cracked where the food actually sits. Every dish is washed at 90 degrees. It is difficult to find plates that are interesting to look at, that don't chip and which are also affordable. We are switching to more durable plates as and when affordable stock becomes available. In the meantime, we can assure you that the plates we use are not cheap and also that they are bought from a local business.
Fantastic cafe, great choice on menu, spotlessly clean and to top it all - Fiona, Ste and their staff always have a great welcome for you - nothing is too much trouble - I can't wait to try out the new Coffee's coming soon !!

We have as a family been visiting Corner Cafe for many years, I can honestly say it is one of the best value cafes around, wether you go for breakfast, lunch, fresh soup, or homemade cakes you won't be disappointed. Jane and her wicked sense of humour add to the ambience and the price makes it affordable to all, and it's fully family friendly.

Tea room/cafe serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Homemade soup, scones and cupcakes. Eat in or takeaway.
My friend took me here for a spot of Afternoon Tea. The place is cozy and the owners are very friendly. They have the picnic tables for the Afternoon Tea which was all presented very nicely, however, some of the food was not fresh and a bit stale.
