We were in the area and decided to go straight for the No.1 Tripadvisor listed restaurant as we are normally very happy with the outcome, unfortunately not this time. We normally frequent character Spanish restaurants so was apprehensive about this very modern, clean but character less bar. We ordered a caña which is normally a tube of beer but it was a small glass about 3 inches high which cost â¬2.40 we reckoned you would need 4 to make up a Tanque which would equate to â¬9.60 a Spanish pint, unheard of. The tapas were alright, nothing special and the chicken pincho with hot sauce was basically 4 bits of breaded chicken deep fried for so long I genuinely couldn't chew it, it was so dry with sweet chilli sauce on top. I did tell the waiter when he asked if everything was okay but it didn't make a difference. Russian salad OK had better, Albondigas were home made, Brocheta of goats cheese had a lovely fruity sauce but it was lukewarm and greasy. Mini burger OK but a bit miserly with the onion relish. All in all disappointed and if that is the number 1 listed restaurant then doesn't say much for the others I am afraid.

We visit Algarbe every time we come to Almerimar. We are always happy with the friendly service- the lady in charge always speaks good English to us and encourages us to practice our very imperfect Spanish. Tapas here come free with all drinks and include large portions of roast chicken and paella. They are generous portions and it is hardly necessary to order any other food for lunch! However if you try the raciones you will find good chippirones and fish also. Down to earth Spanish cooking and plentiful portions-what is there not to like?!

Really good place for an evening drink. Its a welcome relief when you need some shade. Would recommend this bar. It also sells Guinness which seems to draw trade.

From our first visit on our first day this bar was great . Small compared to the other bars around it, but made up for it with atmosphere and character. The bar man and owner always came and chatted with you and made you feel at home . We went back most nights for at least a few drinks, and on Saturday we stayed most of the evening there . Both the barman and owner came and had a free shot with us. Great prices, great people, great bar all round. Definitely recommend this hidden gem .

Lovely, fresh Churro's for breakfast - very large!Reasonably priced too.The service was quite good, although will need basic Spanish to get by.Nice location next to the port - for a walk to wear off the excesses of the Churro's!Might try this place in the evening...

Visiting the area we stopped at this restaurant for tapas and a drink. On arrival there were only two other customers. The two waiting staff clearly saw us enter. We waited several minutes without service then a group of four Spanish customers entered. Still ignoring us the waiter headed first for their table to offer a welcome and to take an order whilst the waitress disappeared behind the bar. We left making our feelings known. We have lived in Spain 10 years and speak fluent Spanish. It is very rare to see this form of discrimination but it should never happen especially in a area that is reliant on tourists. The restaurant has lost two customers who will never return and will lose many more if this type of service continues.Buenas, gracias por compartir tu opinión, y sentimos mucho lo ocurrido. A todo el mundo le prestamos nuestra mejor atención. No queremos que se sientan ofendidos por ningún motivo. Le rogamos que pasen por nuestro bar nuevamente para sanar la experiencia, y mejorar lo ocurrido. Gracias, y lo sentimos de nuevo.

It was our first visit since the restaurant had been revampted. We were not disappointed.Service was very good. Two of us chose red tuna as a main course...excellent.Rueda House White was good value at 15 euros.A very nice dining experience. Will visit again soo .Thank you very much for your visit and your opinion.We hope to see you again in our restaurant soon.
