We visited here in April as a group of 3 families. Had a couple of drinks first evening - friendly welcome, and nice bar/pub albeit an eclectic mix of stuff in there.Had dinner on Friday evening. Food was ok, not great but not dreadful either. Some unusual/odd combinations on the menu (scallops & coleslaw .... didnât work and coleslaw tasted as straight from a tub).Service was friendly and accommodating - had pre ordered food as a large group, but a couple of dishes were wrong. All sorted out, and apologetic - just didnât add to the experience.

Had a very tasty tea, good value for money and friendly attentive service
Found this wonderful little Tea Rooms whilst walking around the town during a weekend in Rye. Its a picture perfect English Tea Room. Very nicely laid out with very friendly and helpful staff. There is a relatively full menu with a good and wide selection. I can thoroughly recommend the Welsh Rarebit. Well worth a visit

The fig is a relaxed, contemporary cafe serving simple fresh and healthy food and locally roasted coffee.
Rosie runs a great set up at The Fig. The atmosphere is so welcoming and the place is always busy enough to have a background mumble. The menu changes seasonally and we are always keen to see what has changed since the last time we went there. Latest being delicious aubergine, hummus and sweet pepper with toasted flatbread. The coffee is really good and they make a mean flat white. Dogs are very welcome.

What a lovely warm cosy welcoming pub. We had an evening meal here, sat in the rear dining area with the glowing dim lighting and had delicious English food. Calves liver with champ was great and the lamb rump also a success. We arrived around 7pm as I heard it's always busy and it had a few tables free which soon filled up. Great friendly atmosphere. When walking past the previous day in the rain it was nice to see people playing board games at the tables whilst having a drink.

The warmest of welcomes awaits you at the New Inn. This 18th century coaching inn in the ancient town of Winchelsea offers beautiful boutique letting rooms, delicious traditional British pub food including local specialities, real ales, a great selection
We were after a bank holiday afternoon stop for some lunch and a pint in a pub garden.... this place ticks EVERY box! A good selection of decent lagers... San Miguel, Pravha, Moretti.... lunch was fab, reasonably priced and the fat chips that came with our daughters ham egg n chips were to die for! The buttermilk chicken burger was gorgeous too! A nice country pub in a beautiful village that has a really nice garden, parking, plenty of staff so service was good.... what can I say? I know my pubs and this is a goodun!

We are a burger restaurant in Rye serving beef and potatoes from our own farm, just four miles away. We also serve awesome Aussie import the FreakShake. These babies have to be seen (and sampled) to be believed! No bookings.
Spent an evening in Rye and saw Hoof was highly-rated on TripAdvisor, so we thought we'd check it out for ourselves. We both had a great meal. My burger was excellent, while my partner had steak with blue cheese sauce (very good). Reasonably priced as well. Would come back. Nice atmosphere too. Many thanks for your feedback. Do come back and see us again sometime!

Itâs was wet evening in Rye and my husband and I were looking for somewhere for dinner. We stumbled across the Landgate bistro. A random choice.Nothing like landing on your feet! We had a fabulous meal and lovely service. I was a little limited by being gluten free but the restaurant was very accommodating. We started with some focaccia and sourdough bread ( well at least my husband did) accompanied by oil and balsamic vinegar and a flavoured butter. We then had a beautiful amuse bouche- fishcake and tartar sauce for my husband and lambs liver for myself- delicious. My husband had wild mushrooms on toast for starter followed by a selection of pork( belly and loin) with a swede mash... delicious. I had confit of duck leg and duck breast with a plum sauce, kale and turnips and parsnip purée- wow- amazing. For dessert we had chocolate mousse with compressed apple and ice cream and a baked vanilla cheesecake. Both lovely. We were then given homemade madeleines and macaroons- gorgeous. All in all- fabulous. Not cheap but actually worth what we paid. I can cope with something being a bit pricier if itâs worth it, this definitely was. Would I return?-if we were in the area again- definitely.Would I recommend?- without hesitation. Well done- fabulous meal!

What a happy find this place was. Not masses on the menu but it was fresh, hot and tasty. The toasted paniniâs are delicious. Seating inside and out. Itâs an ideal place to grab a coffee and a sandwich. The staff are clearly customer friendly.

The Plough is a quintessential English country pub with stunning views from our pond side garden over the Brede Valley with the sea as a backdrop. Situated on the Kent and East Sussex border and less than two miles from the medieval town of Rye, we enjoy
Had seen reviews and online menus, thought it looked good and called in. Despite advertising that they severe until 9, we were told at 8.20, the âkitchen was closedâ. As we we still wanted to eat there, I booked a table through Open Table for the following night. We arrived at 7.20 for our 7.30 reservation, ordered our food and drinks, 5 minutes later, the waiter returned, to inform us that they only had one lamb dish of two we ordered and suggested one of us have the pork instead.Bearing in mind the limited menu, I find this to be totally unacceptable. I have no idea about the quality of the food, but think they have a complete disregard of customer service.Off to eat somewhere cheap n cheerful, where you get what they advertise and you expect, not leave hungry and disappointed!

We have been to the Beach cafe before but not for a while. Pretty much all was okay but we sat outside and it was quite disgusting. Old bits of tissue, paper and even an old dog poo bag just left lying around. It just seemed that no-one cared, which is sad.Had a sandwich which was ok (bread very ordinary) with salad on the side with no cutlery so why not just add to the sandwich?Sorry to be negative but it was truly disappointing.Luckily no photos.Unfortunately we cannot help bits of tissue etc that blow off the tables, it is all picked up at the end of the day. As for the poo bag this is an on going problem we have as the council wonât put a dog bin in along the beach and people think itâs ok to leave them by benches or even throw them in our pots which we find very disgusting and try to keep an eye out for people leaving them unfortunately we are to busy to always catch them leaving it.Cutlery, napkins and sachets are right next to the counter we donât put these on your plate as we have no idea what sauce you want on your food so you are asked to help yourself
