A BRITISH PUB & KITCHEN - The Queen's Head is a stunning pub in the heart of the Oxfordshire village of Crowmarsh Gifford. Five minutes across The Thames from Wallingford and just a short drive from Henley, Oxford and Reading, this great little pub is the
Oh dear. We should have been suspicious when we were the only people in the restaurant, but we thought well, maybe itâs just early. Very helpful waiting staff but we had to take the initiative in asking for table water, clean knife, clean wine glass (it was not just smeary but had a streak of something down the side). We had three different roasts and they were all poor. The meat was nearly cold, the parsnips were hard, and the outside of the potatoes was hard too. It was all very tasteless - so much for the lamb being âmaple and orangeâ, it was just grey and bland. On the positive side the potatoes were hot, but I canât believe I am so desperate to find something positive that I have to say that! We left most of it and to her credit the manager didnât charge us. So thereâs a positive, but so much for an enjoyable Sunday lunch out.

Overlooking Wallingfordâs market square, the Grade II listed building in St Martin's Street that was once home to the townâs prominent post office, first re-opened its doors as an Oakman Inn in 2009. In addition to bearing the same name, The Old Post Offi
We have often eaten here at lunchtime, usually my Mother, my Aunt and me, and always enjoyed the lunch menu, with a glass of wine or a coffee. But we havenât been for a while as Mum hasnât been too well. The waiter / manager on duty this afternoon / early evening (Thursday 3 October) was so very kind to my Mum who arrived feeling lost and disoriented (sheâd unexpectedly taken the bus to Wallingford and after wandering about for a bit sought refuge at TOPO). Huge thank you to all the lovely staff, who telephoned me straight away before giving her a cup of tea and a safe space to wait.Hi C_S_Oxon,Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review! We are so pleased to hear that you visit us on a regular basis and enjoy your visits.I will definitely pass on your compliments to our team and hope to see you again soon.Kind regards,MollyThe Old Post Office Team

A welcoming, dog-friendly cafe in a beautiful listed barn serving simple, local and fresh brunches, lunches and great coffee.
Visited for brunch today with friends & all our children. Food was delicious (veggie brunch) & reasonably priced, coffee was good & best of all there is a play area for the children! There arenât many places you can go & enjoy food with toddlers but this place is so relaxing & there is everything you need for the children. Will definitely have brunch there again, it was so nice!! Hi there, Thank you so much for stopping by and for your kind words. We are happy that your experience with us was such a positive one for you and for the kids. Here at the Cartshed we try to cater for all ages (including our four legged friends), so I am very chuffed to hear that we have met that criteria! Look forward to welcoming you all back very soon! Pub
From the outside it didn't look good and the 'garden's area has no view and is spoilt by more junk lying around, although partially hidden, than my shed. It was lively enough inside though and the menu appeared simple and cheap for a quick bite but were we wrong. This was no quick bite...A steak and onion baguette came with plenty of chips and coleslaw and the pulled pork nachos were among the best we have had recently and much larger than most sharing portions for far less.We will definitely bear this place in mind when out for a walk again but it does slow progress afterwards.

I went there with 3 friends and we had a table by the window in this quaint old pub. It is not big so it could be worth phoning and booking a table

Turned up at the chequers public house, car park was full, double parked, went inside, greeted by woman behind the bar given a menu, told to take a table that looked was for two people, went sat down ordered drinks, paroused the excellent menu, so hard to choose, so opted for Scottish battered cod, chips, peas and home made tartar sauce, little bit noisy, crowded other than that excellent food, will be going back hopefully a bit quieter.

Opened October 2018. The ever so slightly over the top quirky ground floor bar is jolly well stocked, serving classy Martini cocktails, Bombardier ale, lagers, affordable decent wines and artisan gins. The bar leads either up to the first floor dining roo
It was Saturday evening and we hadnât booked a table but this wasnât an issue, we had a table on the top floor. It was a small room with 4 tables of 2 and 1 table for 4. The décor is interesting! We received a warm welcome and the staff were friendly and informative. We ordered mussels, frites and crusty bread to soak up all the garlic and lemon sauce. We washed these down with a couple of pints of San Miguel. It was thoroughly enjoyable. The price was average. I intend to return.

We visited on a Friday evening. Not being able to drink Lager. I asked what beer was available, the answer was none neither draught nor bottled beer was available. The menu presented was very limited. There was no whitebait and the shared seafood platter which had been advertised on booking had been withdrawn due to lack of ingredients. The chicken and chorizo pie appeared in three dishes with a cold plate. The chicken was shredded and the mashed potato was grey and cold the vegetables were very al dente. The two non meat eaters in the party had cheese appetisers and starters,no main course. The staff were polite and attentive. Altogether a very disappointing vist.

Such a lovely evening at a most welcoming pub - a must if you're near Wallingford. From the owner's predinner drinks order taken at the outside table (never experienced that before) to the unintrusive service over a wonderful dinner - you won't be disappointed. This cosy restaurant pub served up a delight with fresh salads (I had chicken confit and pistachio salad) to start to a spectacular duck and fish for mains (but many choices for all palates. Check this out online. Many thanks for a memorable evening. What a delight to receive a review like this, and it was my pleasure serving you last night and your comments on the food were given to the chef. All reviews we receive are listened to by all the staff concerned and we thank you for this one.

Take sanctuary from the street-level bustle and dive in to the flavours of local British cuisine at Oxen Bar & Grill, the all-day neighbourhood brasserie nestled in the Courtyard Oxford South Hotel. With leather snugs, Oxfordshire inspired details, expose
Standard food (although the fish did taste and look like it came frozen from the local supermarket) but highly priced. For what looks like a high class place the food was disappointing and the service wasn't much better (including the waiter laughing when we were actually complaining about the food). It will definitely not be somewhere we visit when we are in the area next. You can get much better food elsewhere for less. Very disappointing experience.Thankyou for your review.. i would like to take this opportunity to apologise that we fell short of your expectations on this occasion.it is only with feedback, good or bad, that we can improve and increase our offering to our valued guests.I would like to gain some more information on your experience here at The Oxen Bar & Grill, as it leaves me with some questions - please email me directly on [email protected], so we can discuss further.Kindest regards and looking forward to hearing from you.Thomas KentFood & Beverage Manager
