Reviews on British food in Ventnor, England, United Kingdom. Ventnor (/ˈvɛntnər/) is a seaside resort and civil parish established in the Victorian era on the south east coast of the Isle of Wight, England. It is situated south of St Boniface Down, and is built on steep slopes leading down to the sea. The higher part is referred to as Upper Ventnor (officially Lowtherville); the lower part, where most amenities are located, is known as Ventnor. Ventnor is sometimes taken to include the neighbouring settlements of St. Lawrence and Bonchurch.

Came across Cantina purely by chance, looking for shelter on a very wet morning in Ventnor. Ducked in to ask if they were dog-friendly, and thankfully they were. Really wished we hadn't eaten breakfast beforehand - because I would have LOVED to have eaten there. The food on the tables all around us looked and smelt DIVINE. Enjoyed some delicious coffee though. The service was wonderful (the two of us - plus our four-legged friend were made to feel very welcome) and the place has such a lovely ambience/vibe. Next time we're in Ventnor we'll be going back there for sure, but this time with empty tummies!

Staff were nice here but be warned this place only takes cash and no cards. This is the second place we have visited in Ventnor which is like this, and the staff say the reason being is they want to reduce the cost to customers. Seriously in this day and age, how many people actually carry any amount of cash and what would the actual card charge be for a £15-20 meal?? I run a small business myself and it costs me just 1.5%. Quite honestly I'd prefer to pay more for the convenience as I don't want to have to try to find an ATM! In addition to this, the food we ordered (a crab sandwich) was disappointng and I could have made a better one for myself at home! All brown meat, no white meat at all, no salad garnish, no mayonnaise, no lemon with it, very poorly presented. Very mediocre for the price paid and sadly we wish we'd have picked up something from the supermarket up the road instead.

We went there when trying to find a place for lunch in Ventnor; the place is attractively decoarated, with friendly staff, and the sausage roll was one of the best I'd had. The only downside was that they don't accept credit cards, so you need to bring cash with you.Thank you for your review. We are currently looking into taking credit cards, and finding a package that best suits us and our customers. Hope it wasn't too inconvenient for you, and hope to see you again.

We have eaten here many times.Following refurbishment and a name change to âHello Sailorâ we decided to visit. The freshly painted interior with nautical links is inviting and attractive. The delightful views remain the same!!!Ventnor beach and promenade in all its glory. The menu is now concise but retains many old favourites. The welcome from Shaun( co- owner) is always warm and inviting.Food is delicious. Wine very acceptable. We gather that there will be some changes to opening times so watch the website. As good as it ever was!

For me there is nothing more enjoyable on a holiday trip near the coast than a good crab sandwich. Our b&b host recommended the Beach Shack and the recommendation was well founded. Steephill Cove is a charming little spot on the coastal footpath and a stone's throw from Ventnor Botanic gardens. It's a simple beach café with a verandah. My crab sandwich on granary served with a few crisps came in at £9, but it was well filled and delicious and savoured while enjoying the sea view. The chap running it was also very affable and on the ball and made for a delightful visit. You need to be able to manage the slope or steps to get there and back mind, but worth the effort for those who can.

It is a very elegant restaurant, cute outside and very cosy inside, tables are very posh and accurately dressed with silver cutlery, the atmosphere is enchanting, music volume is soft and tracks are perfect. Food is delicious. Fish was fresh and tasty. Staff is polite and welcoming. Inside the toilet there are proper cloth hand towels, to dispose inside a basket and there is a perfume too! The best restaurant on the Isle of Wight!Wow! That's a fantastic review! Thank you very much!

NOW CLOSED FOR THE 2019 SEASON - OPEN EASTER 2020 A fantastic little restaurant that serves up crab pasties to die for and fresh fish and seafood fresh from the waters In front of the cove.
What's not to like? A fab little place right on the coastal path which serves superb crab pasties, salads and in our opinion the best crab sandwiches on the Island! Friendly service, lovely fresh crab and a great spot in the cove. After staying on the Island for six weeks this summer and walking the entire coastal path, we have eaten a LOT of crab sandwiches and this place wins hands down, so we've had to go back a couple of times! Not many tables, but well worth a visit and the possible short wait for a table!

We visited the restaurant on a busy Friday night but were bowled over by a range of delicious dishes that were simply delicious. The chefs clearly take great pride in the food they serve and the way in which it was presented. Lovely staff with good service made this a standout meal.
