I ordered med/rare which it was but it was so tough I couldn't even cut the steak with the so called steak knife, i paid nearly £80 very poor value.the plate was sparce with a mushroom with a few cherry toms some chips and the steak. The whole meal ,lacking in vision and quality, I drove all the way from Liskeard I wish I had used a local resturaunt..Thank you for your well written review. I have spoken to my team who served you on the night, who went to at length to make sure your party were happy. Your description of our steak is incorrect as you missed out the battered onion rings and lambs leaf lettuce that was served with your steak? Our meat is sourced locally and if any issues, we will always try to rectify these as soon as we are made aware. You forgot to mention that your meal was actually refunded and yet you still feel compelled to leave a poor review??As for the vision and quality of our steak, we are a refined restaurant that strives on quality for all our customers. Perhaps The Heron Inn is not to your liking.

Great food and cocktails which all enjoyed. Glad booked table as very busy when we arrived. Good staff. Only issue was the wait after the starters, was informed about a delay with the one meal when ordered as it takes longer to cook but maybe that should have been taken into consideration when the starters went out. Bizarly that dish arrived 5mins before the others! Enjoyable night anyway. Would go back.Hello catsailor2014We would love to see you back and remember that we are always here to talk to you about issues that may arise during service whether it's an issue with the food or as you mention a timing issue. All your comments will be shared with the team and we appreciate the fact that you have taken the time to write a review and for mentioning that the night was enjoyable.

We were staying with friends in Truro who very kindly took us for lunch at Penrose Kitchen. It was a wet and miserable day and the restaurant didn’t look particularly inviting from the outside. However, our friends also love good food and had dined there several times so we were still hopeful of a tasty lunch. As soon as we stepped inside we were warmly greeted by Sam and as we looked around were pleasantly surprised by the warm and cosy décor. Sam and her front of house team are friendly and helpful but not intrusive which can be a rarity. The food, particularly the first course of slow cooked lamb, was soft, tasty and absolutely perfect. We have eaten lamb on a couple of occasions in restaurants since our visit (including one with a Michelin star) and both my husband and I found this dish to be far superior and are using Ben’s lamb as the benchmark. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and speaking to Ben after our lunch and had to be dragged away by our friends so that he and Sam could prepare for dinner that evening. I love everything they are doing here particularly keeping it local and sustainable and it was evident that Ben is very passionate about food. I have one regret – that this restaurant is more than 300 miles from home!

I had a lovely birthday supper where staff really made me feel special, with a complimentary glass of fizz and a lovely wrapped bag of homemade traybake to take home - a really lovely touch and showed their attention to detail as well as great customer service. The pub is quite delightful, atmospheric and quaint with many small areas to sit and drink and eat, though there is a small dining room at the back.Food was well cooked and delicious - our party tended to have fish of the day and steak and a vegetarian dish all being tasty and quite large portioned. Certainly one of the best dining places in Truro. It has a great bar with many selections of gin and wine and beer.

We moved to Cornwall in June but have only just found the time to pop to The Cornish Vegan for treats. Previous visits have been on holidays. It’s also always been sunny weather before so it was a treat to stop by and get cosy in the beautifully decorated interior , rather than sun it up in the gorgeous outside section. We opted for soup of the day which was red lentil and chickpea. You get a huge bowl full with toasted seeds, plus three slices of bread and what tasted like in house churned butter. Really filling and tasty. We also had chips on the side to share which were chunky and delicious. We had to have dessert with my partner on walnut and chocolate brownie with ice cream and I had Cornish cream tea for two. I could only finish one of my soft delicious scones with strawberry jam and clotted coconut cream, I felt sooo sick but it was so worth it! Partner loved his dessert too. Will definitely be stopping by in future for more tasty food. A real favourite. Thank you so much for the lovely review. It makes us so happy when our customers enjoy their visits with us and we look forward to seeing you again soon (and more frequently too seeing as you've now moved to Cornwall). Thanks again,Dawn and Paul x

I booked a table by phone and was surprised to find the Pub restaurant almost empty. We were worried whether this was because the food was not up to much but were in for a surprise. The roast lamb with vegetables we ordered was lovely and rich, very tasty.Quite a different experience from other Sunday roasts in town recently, which haven't been up to scratch one way or another, from lukewarm or uncrispy roast potatoes or swimming in gravy. We found out later that the Pub had only just restarted offering Sunday lunches.Definitely worth another visit or two.
