Desperate for a cup of tea on a rainy afternoon we popped in here and although it had a play area there was only my husband and myself. The tea was excellent and while talking to Fiona we were shown the sensory room and a discussion followed. Worth a visit.

Coming from Australia and completing a driving tour of Scotland. We'd booked two nights accommodation on line based on price and Ferry Inn's location on the north coast. On arrival at this unassuming property with two "R's" on the signage missing and being close to the road we thought that we'd made a huge blunder. How wrong we were! Our room was immaculate with excellent harbour views, tastefully refurbished, comfortable beds and plenty of space. We opted for the Bar restaurant. Menu was simple although reasonably priced and ordered the Burger & Fish & chips. Portion were generous, chips nice and crispy and the fish just melted in the mouth. For freshness, great batter & taste to the last mouthful including value. I have to say our meal was the best of it's kind compared to the equivalent in Perth & Sydney cafes. Hats off to the Chef!

We stayed here for one night only, on our way to Orkney, but would definitely return if in the area.This guest house is not OTT, just quietly efficient. Room had everything we need, super-comfy bed, fast Wifi, and the breakfast was just the best.Would have got 5 stars but we couldn't get hot water at 7.30am - probably too many guests showering at the same time. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Food in here is pretty good, the breakfasts were legendary although possibly not quite so reliably fantastic these days. The cheese scones are still fantastic though and the tray bakes and cakes are a treat for the very sweet-toothed. Downside is that the tables are very (VERY) slow in being cleared and the service can be distinctly disinterested (to be polite about it!)

Went here late 1 Sunday after 8pm. Still quite busy . Menu is varied and good value for money. Starters were well presented and nice . Main course was of generous portions and very good . Steak was excellent . The Oldfield salad looked fantastic and I'd recommend it. Desserts were very nice.

Most of Thurso was still shut Monday night, so food choice still limited. We chose the Pentland through process of elimination in the end ( open and no coach parked outside..). As you walk in the place is quite freshly decorated and has pleasant music, but that's where it stops. The food is quite poor compared to many places in Thurso. The staff are young and miserable, they probably need to go on a customer relations course.The male toilets are quite disgusting and you can smell them as you walk in the rear entrance,,,,not at all pleasant.For visitors to Thurso go elsewhere.Thank you for taking the time to leave us a response, albeit a negative one.Ynot is a popular restaurant with both locals and tourists alike and normally we receive very positive feedback on both our food and our staff. We are sorry to hear that on this occasion you were disappointed with both.Regarding the male toilets, they are shared with the public bar next to the restaurant and here at Ynot we pride ourselves on our excellent cleaning standards. Staff carry out regular toilet checks and understand the importance of keeping these areas clean as well as the restaurant and bar areas. We can only presume on this occasion that perhaps you caught us at one of our more busier times and we can only apologise that you found the toilets to be unacceptable. Please rest assured this review has been fed back to both the restaurant and bar staff to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Booked a table for dinner through a rather unfriendly lady at the hotel reception desk. Restaurant does not have much of an atmosphere; the service was OK. On a positive note my main course of smoked haddock was very tasty and the wine by the glass was most acceptable.I ordered the affogato for dessert but said I did not want the liqueur with it. I was however charged the full price £5.95 for what was in effect ice cream and a small espresso. I did query this but the waiter who was not interested - I felt this was a rip -off
