Great herbal tea, I had the blackberry and cinnamon for £2.50. One of the best herbal teas Iâve had! Along with the great tea itâs an awesome spot to people watch and relax after a walk on Dartmoor. Which is exactly what I did.Thanks. Our brand of herbal and fruit teas are only available at Dukes within Tavistock and have proved very popular since we started using them. We are also pleased you enjoyed your walk on Dartmoor and then spent some time in our fantastic town.

Traditional English pub with a variety of local real ales and beers, extensive home made menu, in addition to our daily specials. Family games room, baby changing room and disabled facilities. Dogs very welcome. Fantastic setting for any function.
Looks nice from the outside. Inside ok could be better. Food took a long time to come out over half an hour wasn't that busy. My husbands ham egg and chips was fine, I ordered the seafood linguine but was disappointed when it arrived should of had at least four different seafood's but only two or three mussels tiny calamari and no prawns or octopus. I told the waitress and she removed it and it came back with some nice big prawns and apologies. The people on the next table were not happy either. Shame because it could be a nice place with a little care and attention.Good Morning Madam,We are sorry your experience at the pub did not live up to your expectations. We have just introduced a new menu and specials board and thus are still fine tuning our portion sizes and timings of dishes off of our customer's feedback. We will take note of your comments for our continued improvement of service going forward.Kindest RegardsWill, Madi and the team.

We had a very tasty lunch of Welsh Rarebit and salad, my husband had shellfish burger with salad and chips. The tarte au citrone looked so delicious we had to have some. The staff could not have been friendlier and the dog was very welcome. I loved the âshabby chic decor. Another visit soon I hope.

We thought weâd frequent a local cafe instead of the national chain next door. Mistake. Some 25 minutes after ordering a latte, it hadnât arrived. In the interim, other diners that arrived after we did, were served their food and drink, we were still waiting. We upped and left. Poor service doesn't deserve our business.I am so sorry you did not get promptly severed, when you visited us last Monday.we had new staff on that day which is no excuse for this to happen. Again i am so sorry this issue has been brought to all the staff attention. Karen

A contemporary restaurant in the centre of Tavistock idyllically situated next to the river. The restaurant is light and modern inside and has outside seating on the riverside terrace. Open all day, everyday serving the full menu all day.
Stopped off for a quick lunch. Easy access through outside area for those in a wheelchair like me, easy to get to tables inside and there is an easy access toilet too. Prompt waitress service, very pleasant staff. Had jacket potatoes with fillings followed by a piece of their lemon and almond cake. Iâd been eyeing it up whilst eating ! Very moist and the cream filling not too sweet. Have put this place on our list of places to go to again! Dear Linnty,We are so pleased to read that you enjoyed your visit to Eastgate. We love the Lemon and Almond Cake too! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with other TripAdvisor users, it makes a real difference to our independent business. We look forward to welcoming you back to Eastgate again soon. Many thanks once again.Kind RegardsEastgate Management

The Horn of Plenty has been thrilling guests for over 50 years with some of the South West's very best food, drink and accommodation. This multi-award winning, independently owned Country House Hotel and Restaurant has 4 AA stars and 2 AA rosettes for fin
Not sure why it's taken us so long to try here! As seafood lovers, we were enticed by the Special 5 course Lobster & Crab Menu @ £65 including matched wines for each course. What transpired was a perfect evening. I find it very difficult to find anything to criticise (maybe the bread was a little "heavy" but that is being churlish). After delightful amûse bouche, we were treated to a series of perfectly balanced, perfectly portioned and perfectly cooked dishes, culminating in a superb Butter Poached Lobster, Crab & Fennel tartlette - exquisite. The Lobster Cerviche and Crab & Lobster Ravioli desrve special mention too.Complementing this was a well organised and plentiful team of servers. Friendly and attentive, neither "starchy" nor too informal, too rapid (almost) nor too slow - spot on in fact. The setting is marvellous and the ambience is one of calm, friendly assuredness. Smart casual; not formal. (though perhaps the curtains and blinds in need of a revamp?)We really did have one of the most excellent meals we'd enjoyed for a long time. Inevitably, it is very highly recommended.Dear Jamie M,What a delightful review to read! Thank you so much for taking the time to share it.We are so pleased you found the setting marvellous, the service friendly, and the food excellent. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future. Please keep an eye on our website for all the latest events and offers. We still have a few tables left for our French evening coming up on Wednesday 23rd October, but it is booking up quickly!Kind regardsCandace and the Horn of Plenty Team

Managed to get a table in the very popular gastro-pub on a Sunday evening. The food was excellent, the service attentive and friendly and the ale well kept and refreshing. Almost five stars ..... but not quite. The duck dish I had was well cooked and I enjoyed it though in hindsight perhaps I should have had a side dish of something green..... actually great place to eat.... if in Tavistock book in advance!

Open 7 days a week with a fantastic range of menus Taylors has something for everyone. A modern breakfast menu, freshly made cakes, delicious coffee, light lunches, the unique West Country Tapas menu and our full evening menu compliment a superb wine list
Came across Taylorâs a bit by accident, but what a wonderful surprise! The staff is most professional and knowledgeable. Interesting bar with mixed drinks, wine and beer. The food is to die for I had a beef brisket and didnât need a knife â some of the best beef Iâve had in a long time. Pumpkin soup and fish dishes all highly recommended by wife. And the âpuddingâ if you are even mildest interest in lemon meringue pie you must order it here.

Proper food at good prices. Cooked fresh and locally sourced. Everything cooked to order and we are by far the most traditional cafe in Tavistock. Non pretentious and plenty of banter
A well placed cafe in the market with a vast and well priced menu. Went with family and friends for a late breakfast before we went around town. The breakfast was well cooked and a good size for the price. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and the two cooks were rushed off their feet but did a brilliant job.Thankyou for your kind review and we are really pleased that you found us and enjoyed the experience. So many places rip customers off and we find that happens quite a lot, especially surrounding us and even more so with the bigger names. Here at Bobs we pride ourselves on providing locally produced food at a sensible cost.We hope to see you again in the near future. All the best Bob and the team

After checking in to our hotel in Tavistock we asked for dinner recommendations from our host. Given a few excellent options, we decided head to Peter Tavy Inn on hearing that it was a warm and cosy British Pub with generous servings of traditional pub food (despite it being a ten minute drive away through narrow laneways and dark corners). All part of the big adventure we have come to love in our 50 day journey in UK.We arrived to a welcoming, old style pub, with happy voices and tempting kitchen smells emerging. The low timber teams meant a bit of head ducking for my 6'2" husband as we were shown to our corner table in a fully booked restaurant. We had been told of the pub's reputation for the best steak and stilton pie so we could not resist ordering after entrees of chicken liver pate and smoked salmon using the freshest ingredients. The pie's hot method pastry was buttery and delicious and the meat tender and beautifully flavoursome. Each of us enjoyed an enormous piece of pie accompanied by a side dish of beautifully prepared vegetables and crispy potatoes. N!eedless to say we could not manage to even view the dessert menuAll in all a wonderful, warm and cosy evening in this delightful pub provided another happy memory for our book of travels.
