Reviews on British food in Stonehaven, Scotland, United Kingdom. Stonehaven (/stoʊnˈheɪvən/ ( listen); [stinˈhaiv] ( listen)) is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It lies on Scotland's northeast coast and had a population of 11,602 (Scotland's Census 2011). After the demise of the town of Kincardine, which was gradually abandoned after the destruction of its royal castle in the Wars of Independence, the Scottish Parliament made Stonehaven the successor county town of Kincardineshire. Stonehaven had grown around an Iron Age fishing village, now the "Auld Toon" ("old town"), and expanded inland from the seaside. As late as the 16th century, old maps indicate the town was called Stonehyve, Stonehive, Pont also adding the alternative Duniness. It is known informally to locals as Stoney.

Had a scone and tea here whilst my daughter had a half serving of granola and my great grandson had a brownie and tea. We met up with friends here. The waiter was very friendly and efficient. The cook, whom the group had known since childhood asked us to taste some scones she had made with a different flavour. The consensus on these were that a little bit would be fine, but not too much as the flavour was very strong. This restaurant is well used by locals and visitors alike, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would recommend eating here.

I've been visiting this establishment for many years. The food is invariably excellent, the setting wonderful, and the views stunning. That said, things seem to be going even greater guns for The Marine than usual. The food during my last visit was really outstanding, and it is helped by the management staying on top of such things as the venue's maintenance and refurbishment issues. When I need to impress visitors from outwith North East Scotland, this is usually my go to place. Keep it up.

This place used to be so busy but lately it's quiet. The food has really went down hill. A lot of people I know say they don't go there anymore. Hi Elaine, I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your meal with us. I hope it hasn't put you off giving us another try as we have just hired a new chef to top up our team and we're very much back on track! Hopefully we'll see you again soon - make yourself known to me and I'll give you a complimentary drink to go someway to making up for your previous disappointment. Regard Sheila

Arduthie House is a beautiful 6-bedroom Bed & Breakfast in the heart of Stonehaven and is also a Tea Room, open to everyone, serving a wide selection of teas and coffees, homemade soup, quiche, and sandwich lunches and a wonderful array of homemade cakes
A couple of streets back from the Market Square, this wasnât easy for strangers to find but we were glad we did. The soup was delicious as were the scones. Service was really friendly and we felt valued as customers. There is a good mixture of comfortable seating, tables and outside seating as well. Worth finding!

Situated in the historic fishing village of Catterline, perched on cliffs overlooking the bay and harbour, The Creel Inn is set among some of North East Scotland's most beautiful coast line
New to the area but second time weâve visited The Creel recently. The food is really good. Staff efficient and friendly. Only slight negative, didnât enjoy our meal quite as much as last time because we were in the âbackâ dining room. Not as cosy and buzzing as main dining area. Not many places Iâd recommend but The Creel is well worth a visit.

A warm welcome on a very cold wet day, we ordered the Jumbo battered haddock, Scampi and chips, a pot of homemade garlic mayo, a pot of homemade tartar sauce, coffee and a coke. The haddock was very fresh, thick and tasty the batter thin and crispy . The Scampi were very fresh, but some were a little small as was the portion. Both sauces were very good. The member of staff who served us was very friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience very close to five stars only let down by the scampi size.

The Stack Restaurant and Bar,where you'll find locally sourced, seasonal food which has been attentively prepared and served in a relaxed and welcoming environment, alongside a well -stocked Bar. Situated in the coastal village of Muchalls, just off the A
We were here the other night. I love mussels but I am totally wine intolerant (most mussels are in winy sauces) Bingo - two different mussel sauces neither with wine. Curry sauce and tomato and chorizo, both delicious. My wife had the curry sauce mussels starter (delicious). I had the crab starter which was excellent. I had the mussels and the chorizo sauce as a main, lovely but preferred the curry. Triple cooked chips were excellent. My wife's duck main was okay but a tad overdone. Others had steak (happy) and chicken. Previous review suggests slow service - they are right, very few staff, smallish kitchen but I love the food and we were served completely in turn with our fellow diners (if that makes sense!?). It was two hours for two courses but I didn't mind, I loved the food and the four of us talked lots!

On the photos, the hotel is a little bit old fasion, but in reality it's very charming room.Clean, well equipped, not far from Dunnottar castle. Amazing breakfast with a good choice even for vegetarian. We do not eat at the restaurant, so i can not give recommendation about it, but the hotel is very good!

We had just popped into town for a quick lunch, coming over the hill from Dunnottar, and spied this place. We got there just before the Sunday lunch rush, so getting a table was no problem. We encountered exceptionally friendly service, excellent food - since we were seaside we thought that something aquatic was in order, and a cake trolley they happily wheeled around for us to make a takeaway selection from. Iâve yet to eat the custard cream, but I am very much looking forward to it. Superb experience, made my day.
