Tucked away inside the West Lodge Park Hotel, the Mary Beale Restaurant and Bar provides an elegant but unpretentious setting for any occasion. Enviably located close to Trent Park and Hadley Wood, the dining room is a traditionally stylish space with hug
Posh restaurant???? More like a cafe wanting to be a posh restaurant! The plates were stained and the food was lukewarm. Customer service was nonexistent. Donât get me wrong I have been here last year and the service was amazing. However this experience was disappointing in every way possible. I would of complained but it was hard to get someoneâs attention and by the time it was ready to pay the bill, I was closing a business deal and did not want to ruin losing the deal. I would recommend your staff to be briefed on how to deliver good customer service. Was the food really so terrible and is the Mary Beale restaurant really as bad as you make out ?I only ask this question because the tendency on social media is to exaggerate everything,We have a beautiful hotel with amazing grounds, and many hundreds of satisfied guests every week.I hope you raised the issues with the staff at the time, if they had known they would have taken actions to rectify any problems. If you are able to advise me of the date and time of your meal in the restaurant, I can make further investigations. Thank you.Andrew BealeManaging DirectorBeales Hotels

Just 4 of us for a fish and chips meal. The service continues to be helpful and friendly. Not everything on the menu was available but that still left a more than adequate selection. The food was freshly cooked to order and it showed. Very decent quality and quantity. Will certainly go back in the future.

Our first visit didnât disappoint! I had a fillet steak and my hubbie had a rib eye. Both absolutely gorgeous. At Gastronomical, every burger we serve is handmade by us using three cuts of prime, 30 day dry aged, grass fed, free range beef. Each is individually seasoned, minced and blended to exact specifications, to create what we believe is the perfect burger. O
I feel bad that it's taken so long to write this review because we really enjoyed our meal at Gastronomical Burgers. We were staying locally and wanted to try the restaurant after reading the reviews. We weren't disappointed. The restaurant wasn't full when we arrived, but the ambience was perfect - lots of candles and music at just the right volume. So far so good, but what about the food? We shared the wonderfully dramatic starter to make sure we had room for the main course. We both chose burgers and they were excellent - perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The accompaniments and relishes were also superb. We don't normally have deserts but they were so tempting we couldn't resist. Quite honestly, I can't even remember what my husband had (although he said it was amazing) because I was so blown away by the Marguerita ice-cream with Tequila. OMG - it was so, so good. Please, if you choose this *drink the tequila*, donât pour it over the ice-cream. It was absolutely sublime and we might have to travel down to London/Hertfordshire again soon just so I can taste it again. The service throughout was perfect - charming and attentive, with a bit of personality.Chris made a point of greeting us as we left, which I understand he tries to do with all diners. All in all - this was a wonderful (excellently priced) dining experience in a great setting with charming people; what's not to love?

Oh dear, back to mediocre Sunday Roast.... I am always horrified when an establishment cannot produce a decent Sunday roast it really isn't that difficult!Main criteria of a Sunday roast crispy roast potatoes, crispy chicken skin and a thick gravy.... oh and if you're having cauliflower cheese they nice runny cheese sauce over the cauliflower!!Once again the old manor failed on every single one of those points.... a couple opposite from us also complained about the gravy and the cauliflower cheese so it isn't just us!We arrived at 12:20 and were greeted with leathery potatoes, uncooked chicken skin, watery gravy and congealed cheese on top of dried cauliflower. Needless to say we won't be going back here again anytime soon.... such a shame!

My friend and I arranged an impromptu lunch and we decided to stay local so popped into the Oakmere Tea and dining room for the first time ever, despite having lived in Potters Bar for over 15 years! I had previously read many positive reviews and pleased to say we were not disappointed. There were quite a few people in there when we arrived and it got even busier as we dined. The place is clean, nicely decorated and had a pleasant relaxed atmosphere. We were served relatively promptly, staff not overly friendly but efficient nonetheless. Good choice of options on the menu. Food was of good quality and I found the portions a fair size for lunch. Reasonably priced meals but the drinks are a bit expensive. Not sure Iâd return in a hurry, as there are many other nice (slightly cheaper) places to lunch in Potters Bar, but happy to have finally tried it.

The Candlestick Freehouse and Restaurant - A traditional Pub renowned for excellent food and a superb wine list, is located in the picturesque hamlet of West End near Essendon in Hertfordshire. Being located in such a peaceful setting allows for a relaxin
Went for a family meal having previously enjoyed the food at The Candlestick. Sadly the day we visited the chef must have been having an off day. The fish and chips were soggy and greasy, the peas dry and shrivelled. The veggie lasagne was heavy and uninspiring. It's always embarrassing leaving food on the plate, but it was just so hard to finish such a disappointing meal. I felt bad recommending it. I know The Candlestick can do much better.
