Reviews on British food in Portrush, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. Portrush (from Irish: Port Rois, meaning "promontory port") is a small seaside resort town in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, on the County Londonderry border. The main part of the old town, including the railway station as well as most hotels, restaurants and bars, is built on a mile–long peninsula, Ramore Head, pointing north-northwest. It had a population of 6,454 people as measured by the 2011 Census. In the off-season, Portrush is a dormitory town for the nearby campus of the University of Ulster at Coleraine. It neighbours the resort of Portstewart.

My favourite spot in Portrush, not your usual coffee shop experience, more chick chic than trendy hipster. But the foods fantastic and the traybakes put other coffee shops to shame. Staff are brilliant and can't do enough for you.

A lovely family friendly restaurant and bar which boasts an animal friendly section. Serving beautiful food and providing superb customer service.
We ate here for dinner. Very friendly service, though very slow to take our order. However, food arrived very promptly after this. Husband had the tandoori chicken which he loved. I had the fish and chips - triple cooked chips could have done with a bit longer as some weren't cooked and the vinegar was very watery! (Random but true!). Would try it again as it's very handy location wise.Good Evening CMK79,Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review and for your feedback.i am delighted you enjoyed your meal and my apologies we were delayed in taking your order. Looking forward to welcoming you back to the Inn for another meal in the near future, will make sure the vinegar is tip top :) Kind RegardsKirsty

Overall, we enjoyed our meal at the Tides. There were many, many positives here, and the only thing that kept this from full five stars is the time spent here. The atmosphere at this restaurant is amazing...a very "homey" feel downstairs, but the upstairs is delightful...especially if you're able to make it to the back patio overlooking the Atlantic Ocean...what a wonderful view and atmosphere!! While it was crowded, we did enjoy a drink downstairs on couch-style seating before we were called up to our seating upstairs. Our server was very friendly, and we went with the three-course meal, which is really a fantastic deal.....an appetizer, a main meal, and a dessert for each order (not shared appetizers or desserts...truly individual). The food here was excellent, and the desserts delectable. We very much enjoyed all of our food. The biggest minus was the speed of service. A total of 2 1/2 hours from walking in to the time we walked out, and that's with reservations. We were seated in a reasonable time (probably less than a half our)...the remainder of the 2 hours was all for a three-course meal. It was very, very painfully slow, which put a damper on a very wonderful meal. Our order was taken quickly...the time was all in the food coming from the kitchen. Having said that, the food was excellent across the board. Not sure if this is standard wait and to be expected, or an anomaly, but the overall time for the dinner was a slight minus for an otherwise fabulous meal and experience.

I enjoyed a leisurely lunch here. Everything was off a high standard and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. Family of 5 ate dinner here. Food was decent, not great except for maybe the Sea Bass which was really good. But the service was very poor. We ordered drinks with the food and did not receive them until we were 3/4 thru our meal. We asked our server 3 times and even 2 other servers. I was getting ready to call over the manager when our drinks finally arrived. And the drinks included tap water. So basically we ate 3/4 of our meal without and drinks. Very frustrating. The other complaint was it took a long time to get our bill. Other patrons were lining up at the bar asking if they could pay there. So that is what I did. And got out of there.I would not recommend.

We had lunch during a excursion. No expectation but what a nice meal. 3 buses were served at the same time withiut any delay. the staff was perfect. Beef was excellent. Just beside the famous Royal Portrush Golf Club (The Open 2019). Would stay there at another independant travel.

We went as a group of eight people for a 70th Birthday celebration. We were informed at the time of booking, at the confirmation of booking and TWICE on arrival we only had the table for two hours. Ok, we get it. If this is the case, it is the responsibility of the wait staff and the kitchen staff to get the food out in a timely manner. After an hour and a half, 20 minutes after the starter had been cleared, 6 of us had our mains, but there was no sign of the other two. We had to ask if they were coming. We were told, "The chefs are all about the presentation", though clearly not about making sure we all have our food at the same time. And clearly not about making sure we have time to have our meal. After the main course, we were not asked if we would like to see the dessert menu, again we had to ask for it. When the waitress came to give us the menu, we were told we couldn't have the chocolate fondant as it took 10 minutes to cook and we didn't have time. Maybe if we hadn't had to wait for half an hour for our main courses, we would have had time. Maybe if we hadn't had to ask for a dessert menu we would have had time. We were not slow eaters and the manager, after checking the timings admitted there had been a delay. He gave us a "round of drinks" off the price as compensation. This amounted to a bloody Mary, a cider and a coke (as all the other drinks had been wine). Great. We ate our celebratory meal with one eye on the clock and were made to feel like second class citizens.I was so conscious we had to be out. The wait staff, managerial staff and chefs ensured our celebration meal was nothing like we'd hoped for. Really disappointed.

Traditional bar and Bistro international menu ,with live music each night open everyday closed Christmas day
The restaurant really lets the bar part of this establishment down. The bar is great and has character and the Guinness is great but the restaurant is another story! The food was extremely average considering the waiting times, we werenât the only table that this was happening to, there were a number of tables around us that were getting frustrated. We eventually got our starter and finished this and waited another 30 mins and no member of the waiting staff came near us. I had to go and get someone to clear our table & get our mains which as previously mentioned were hardly worth the wait.I know this is a well known tourist area and it can be busy at times but there is no excuse for shabby service, the waiting staff really didnât give a hoot they were just going through the motions. Definitely will return to the bar but wonât be eating here again.

Something is most definitely brewing in Portrush - beer is making a quiet and classy comeback! By forging strong links with domestic, individual, artisan brewers Kiwi's Brew Bar is able to source suds that you simply can't get elsewhere along with the bes
Iâve been going to Portrush for many years and usually headed down to the usual venues at the harbour, which are also great. I canât believe that I havenât visited this bar before as it is a great venue. Which door to get in can be a bit confusing but once in itâs a great cosy bar with great friendly service and a limited but delicious food menu (mostly burgers). Great Guinness and good variety of other beers and spirits. Looking forward to my next visit.
