The Auld House is a dated but pleasant country bar. We went here as a family to celebrate my dad's birthday. We had ordered a substantial amount 8 adults (drinks, starters and main courses). I approached the bar with cupcakes for my dad and a chorus of staff voices started saying we can't serve those, you can't bring your own food here because we serve desserts. We felt this was a total over reaction to 12 mini cupcakes and so we ate our meal that was fine got nothing else to eat and left. Very disappointed in our visit 5/10 for the food 0/10 for customer service.Kirsty Thank you for review. All feedback is much appreciated.Your review is certainly unfortunate as we donât normally receive this feedback regarding our staff. Please contact me directly via email at [email protected] take all comments on board and I would certainly like the opportunity to discuss this with you. RegardsStephen

Any time of the day we always get seated and served fairly quickly. Food is very tasty, portions are good and service is prompt and friendly. If you don't fill up too quick you can chance a 99 on your way out and provided the sun is shining sit outside and enjoy the view.

Very disappointed after having dinner here. The 2 courses for £15 plus wine sounded great and the menu had a great selection but the food was not good. I had 'crispy' duck. It wasn't crispy at all. It was just covered in far and hard to eat. My husband had chicken wings. They too were so fatty and covered in very under cooked batter. I had Seabass which also didn't have a crispy skin and the pink belly had hardly any meat on it. It was so fatty. The kids meal was very poor quality. You can get much better value elsewhere. The toilets were absolutely disgusting. My toddler needed to go otherwise I wouldn't have used them. The toilet was full of spare chairs. Broken toilet roll holders and was filthy. It couldn't have been cleaned in months. It was disgusting. I would not recommend.

We went here for coffee and scones but noticed that they do breakfast items to order. For instance the lady at the next table had just a round of toast with jam, whilst her husband had eggs bacon & toast. Others just had scrambled egg on toast, so they appear to cater for just what you want rather than having set breakfasts - what a good idea. Our 2 "Americanos" with scones came to £8.60, but the coffees were in good size cups and were a great flavour. We would go here again.

Situated in Newtownards Molly Brown's is a comfortable and welcoming local pub and restaurant providing quality drinks, food and entertainment. With outside dining and our Live Lounge available for private hire.
Iâd booked for Sunday evening and it was a restricted menu? Why? The service was just ok as was the food. Would I recommend to friends? NO. Will we be back anytime soon? NO. Not like it used to be at all. Sad really. Hi,Please forgive the delay in responding to this review. We were a bit confused by your comment, "it was a restricted menu", and, as you hadn't mentioned which Sunday you were in, we weren't sure how to answer as we can't recall having a restricted menu on a Sunday. We do have a Sunday menu, which is different to our usual weekday menu. Might this be what you mean? Most, if not all restaurants would have a different Sunday menu because of the demand for roasts etc. and we also offer kids eat free on a Sunday, but we do think there is ample choice on the Sunday menu to suit all tastes.Or perhaps you were in on a special Sunday such as Father's Day. On days like this we would put on a special menu as well as other things like additional entertainment or something special for the kids. Might this be what you mean?In short, we're not sure what your comment about a restricted menu refers to, and we hope your comment on the food is a reflection of your impression of "restricted". We think we're as good as we ever were; it's the same kitchen team, same suppliers etc.If this response has not answered your concern, please, do contact us directly.RegardsMolly Brown's Management Team

We visited for a late Friday morning breakfast. The restaurant was busy which probably explains why customer service went out the window. We ordered cooked breakfasts with tea and coffee. The drinks were served first but there was no sign of the food almost 15 minutes later. When we enquired we were just told âIt is comingâ.When it did come, it was not quite what we had ordered - wrong breads and bacon not as requested. By this time of course the drinks were cold.Sorry - don't think weâll be back.

We had heard a lot about this place and had read the reviews. Our expectations were therefore raised. The service was particularly slow with a large portion of the wine consumed before our orders were taken. The menu was indeed extensive and looked promising however the end product did not live up to expectations. Unfortunately rather average. We have eaten in a large number of fish restaurants around the world but this one is some way off the pace. Closer to home the Boat House on the island of Gigha and Cafe Fish in Tobermory are hugely better. Overall not worth the drive to Kircubbin.HiThanks for taking the time to leave a review which has left us all quite shocked!I would love to hear from you to confirm when you dined with us, what you had that was rather average, to discuss the service as it does not ring any bells with our manager or supervisors who do not remember any diners waiting any length of time more than usual to place an order, or any diners who consumed a large portion of wine while waiting, or when checked while dining if there was any problems/issues with their chosen dishes.I'm delighted you have eaten in a lot of restaurants around the world but to say we are off the pace is laughable, we are booked well in advance, we serve only fresh local ingredients, we will keep doing what we do and we do very well, obviously the other diners who leave a review on tripadvisor do not know what they are talking about!By recommending to people the Boat House on the Island of Gigha and Cafe Fish in Tobermory (closer to home HELLO) you could maybe supply the ferry to get the customers from Northern Ireland over to Scotland.I look forward to hearing from you, please ring me on 028427 38222.CheersLeigh
