Every bit as good as others have said. Visited after a friendâs well-founded recommendation and it didnât disappoint. We did, however, think the portion sizes were too large! It was impossible to finish my meal (scampi & chips) despite being initially hungry. I think they could reduce portion size and thereby reduce food waste )and improve their profit margin at the same time) without detrimental effect on their customer offer. My partner enjoyed her lasagne with salad, and we were delighted that they sell Luscombe soft drinks with their excellent menu. Recommended!

The Nags Head Pub is a really good local pub serving lunch and dinners. My burger was delicious! Located just at the bottom of Bearley Road in Martock - a short walk from Wychwood B&B where I had a great 2 night stay.

We have just returned from a lovely stay at this pub, with restaurant and accommodation. The owners Mark and Isabell's husband (didn't get his name) were so accommodating in every way. Our room looked over the garden and everything you would expect was there and comfortable. The food was a real treat with a lunch and two dinners. The drinks were reasonably priced and there was a good choice of beers and four ciders. The wine list was extensive but we found the house range good value at £17.95. The bar was frequented by friendly locals who we chatted with. A special treat was greeting Monty, a friendly customer's dachshund and not forgetting the four pigs corralled at the back of the garden. We enjoyed a walk around the village and talking to friendly locals. We would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment and I am sure we will be back again.

We stopped off for lunch. I had their take on a picnic, basically a home made pork pie, cheese and caremalised onion toastie, salad, chutney, home made slaw and fries. It was all nice and tasty, served on a wooden board. We sat in the railway carriage but could have sat in the marquee or an old double decker bus. Service was good, we arrived just after 2.30 when they stop cooking lunch but still catered from their lunch menu for us. Dogs are allowed in the marquee. Outside there is a shop called The Trading Post, selling all sorts of different foodstuff which you see in farm shops and on line. It also does fill ups if you bring your own bottle or container. Definitely worth another visit when I am in the area.

County pub in a village near South Petherton, Somerset, UK
Venue was nice. Atmosphere was nice. Menu looked nice though I had trouble choosing because there with nothing I really fancied. However some others in the party fancied everything on the menu. A bit marmite then. Whilst it tasted nice the portions were far too small. I had three courses and was still ravenous after them. In desperation I asked for the largest pudding but that was a relatively small version of a banana split. My fellow diners felt the same about the portion size apart from one but then they have the physique of a racing snake and the appetite of an air plant.

A family friendly Pub serving locally sourced, freshly prepared fare. A local friendly bar and large restaurant available for functions or private dining. Music and events throughout the year.
A nice local pub. Friendly and helpful staff. I was told that they do great food so I tried to book for Sunday night. I was told by email that there would be no problem as long as I called to confirm. Unfortunately when I did that I was told that it was not possible. Apparently there is a minimum group booking size for Sundayâs. So I canât comment on their food. Nice pub though nWe are sorry you were disappointed by our Sunday Evening Policy. We do serve food on Sunday evenings with prior booking and table numbers of 8 and over, unfortunately we do have to put a limit on it at the present time. As we had not heard from you until sunday afternoon, the decision had been taken to close the kitchen that evening for a deep clean as no other tables had been booked in. I do hope you will try us on another occasion and look forwarding to welcoming you.

Managed to book an early table at the last minute on Saturday evening. The place was fully booked otherwise with a couple of large groups. This was my first time here. There is a large car park at the rear which is easy to access. Lovely cosy interior. Heavy wood furniture and old world charm. Nice fire in the bar inglenook fireplace. Extremely friendly efficient staff. Well done to the management team. Easy menu. Approx 7 starters, 10 mains and 7 desserts to choose from. Ordered the sirloin steak and the lamb. Nicely presented, didnât wait long for the food. Would definitely come again. Thank you for your great review, delighted you both enjoyed your meal here.Pleased to hear you weren't kept waiting too long, can often be challenging with larger groups if they are not on time.We look forward to serving you again at some point in the future.

Booked table for 4. Great choice of beers, perfect condition. Staff very polite and attentive. Very busy, but didnât have to wait long for our food. Starters very pleasant, especially the warm Scotch eggs. Main meals extremely disappointing. None of us finished our meals (a first for me!).Hi Chris, thank you for sharing your positive feedback with us regarding our wonderful staff, our beers and our scotch eggs. We are, however, very sorry to hear that your main meals clearly fell short of what you would expect from us, however, due to the lack of further information it is difficult to comment further. Please feel free to contact us again to discuss your experience, we would appreciate it.

Warm and friendly local 16th century village pub offering good value home cooked meals. Log fires and candlelight provide the ambience and on sunny days the award winning garden is a relaxing and peaceful haven from the stresses of life.
Our family enjoyed a delicious roast lunch here. Everything was cooked perfectly, the portions were also very generous. The only downside was the time it took to get our food and the price (it certainly isn't a cheap eat). We were there to relax but waiting for over an hour for the main course to be delivered when it wasn't that busy is just too long. Shame as everything else, service, quality, atmosphere was excellent.Hello and thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you felt the wait for your main courses to arrive was too long. However, the reason for this was the waiting staff was waiting for the elderly gentleman in your party to finish his starter before they served all the main courses together. He did seem to be savouring every mouthful! We were also very busy on Sunday, as we usually are, being fully booked with guests also eating in the garden, which is not apparent when you are dining inside. So please, always book a table especially Sunday lunch. Kind regards. Andrew
