Staying just 2 minutes away in Longefoy we had already researched the area and decided Restaurant Union was one to try. Having spoken with some English friends who spend the season in Montalbert and who confirmed our choice, the reservation was a given. But the reality exceeded both the research/reviews and our friendsâ recommendation. From the very relaxed atmosphere and welcoming front of house host, to the choice of food (perfect for me as a non-meat-eater) the evening was sensational. The cured salmon was like nothing Iâve had before, served with pickled cucumber (didnât taste like cucumber, such a complementary flavour and texture for the salmon), small pieces of steamed potato and horseradish/creme fraiche dressing, I wondered how it could be bettered. But bettered it was. Soufflé main course, never an easy dish, but, quelle surprise (hardly), this was delicious. Yes, rich, but served with a light salad, it was spot on. Could I fit in a dessert after that? I thought not, but having seen tarte tatin on the menu, I decided to live dangerously and forget the waistline for an evening. Have you ever patted yourself on the back for a decision well made?? I âsangâ my way through this course with appreciative noises.... much to the embarrassment of my dining partner. 10/10 or 5 stars doesnât do this place justice. Off-the-scale amazing. If only it was in Sheffield (which, incidentally, the cutlery originates; another tick from me). Iâll be back!

Very busy pub. Good beer and the usual expensive prices you would expect in a ski resort. Don't expect a seat.Hi thereThanks for posting a review of our bar the Spitting Feathers. Iâm glad you liked our beer and I must admit that our varied selection of draft beers, namely Grolsch, Grolsch Blanche (White Beer), Peroni, Meantime Pale Ale and St Stefanus (Beer dâAbbaye) seem to suit most tastes. Iâm sorry you couldnât find a place to sit. We are considering making the bar bigger by building an upstairs, so watch this space. As for our prices, unfortunately we have to charge them as we are only open eighteen weeks a year!Kind regards from Tim & all at the Spitting Feathers.

Visited here whilst on holiday skiing in Feb half term. Highly recommended, the food was delicious, the portion sizes were great (2 hungry teenage boys were very happy!) & the prices were really reasonable for a ski resort. Staff were friendly and helpful. We ate during happy hour (bonus the drinks were cheap), straight off the slopes as they were fully booked for the evening, so recommend booking well in advance to avoid disappointment.
