Lossiemouth (Scottish Gaelic: Inbhir Losaidh) is a town in Moray, Scotland. Originally the port belonging to Elgin, it became an important fishing town. Although there has been over a 1,000 years of settlement in the area, the present day town was formed over the past 250 years and consists of four separate communities that eventually merged into one. From 1890 - 1975 it was a police burgh as Lossiemouth and Branderburgh.

We were recommended Johnstons after a visit to Elgin Cathedral. The restaurant was very busy but the staff were exceptionally well organised, very friendly and very helpful. A great atmosphere with large groups, small groups and all ages. The choice of food was good with a great range and some particularly tasty looking cakes. We had soup and sandwiches followed by a scone and hot chocolate. The portions were generous and the service excellent. We followed this by a visit to the shop where my wife purchased some beautiful stuff. This was an exceptionally good experience and one that we will repeat on our next visit.
Service horrendous, food awful and unappetizing. All my friend and I wanted were 2 sandwiches and 2 cups of tea. We got 2 horrible sandwiches, the cheese was missing from my friends, I didn't get my tea and it took ages. Should shut the place down, horrible. Had to give a 1 in the ratings as you can't move on otherwise. Rating -20

4 adults and 2 children ended up here for lunch after a very blustery walk on West Beach. The bacon rolls were huge with 3 thick pieces of bacon, lovely soup and sandwiches. 2 guests had homemade coffee cake which was pronounced delicious

A friendly family run cafe at the beach selling freshly made food to beat in or take away. We have disabled access and parking at the door with disabled toilets. A children's play area equipped with books and toys allows parents to relax. Dogs are welcome
Went in today after a walk along a very cold and windswept (and sleety at times) beach. The weather was too bad to sit outside so we put the dogs in the car and went to see if we could get something warm to takeaway. Lady serving was lovely and we had a bit of a discussion about regional words for bread rolls (hubby ordered cobs and it didn't translate! )We got two coffees and a bacon roll and a sausage and egg roll which were cooked fresh and boxed with serviettes and sachets of sauce in the box. We ate them in the car and they were delicious. Great service and good food - what more could you ask for?How kind, we are here to help x

Splendid pub restaurant with a good menu. All food hot, tasty, well presented. I chose tomato and rice soup, lobster crayfish and pancetta macaroni, and a whisky panacotte. Nice pint of Innes & Gunn IPA, and a dram of Knockando from the whisky menu. All great. Very reasonably priced.

We had a lovely meal here, good selection of meals, specials on a board. Good beer, had the Belhaven bitter and a White Blonde,a hoppy beer, locally brewed. Staff friendly. Good views over sea. Parking on road but room to. Been couple years ago, didn't disappoint. Has a outside terrace if nice but mind the golf balls from local course,ha,ha!.

Salt, La Caverna, Bridge 45, Guidiâs, whatever. It appears to go by all or at least most of these names. The link on TA takes you to a web site called salt cellar, various signage and 2 entrances suggest any of the above names, and our eftpos receipt says we dined at âGuidiâs & Smugglersâ.Great location, probably not so inviting on a wet & windy winters night, but tonight was mild & almost balmy. Itâs a delightful space, full of (un-mentioned) history and character.2 of our waiting staff were delightful, a couple of others less so. No names because there were no name badges. When we entered we were told to just sit anywhere, and the menu was brought to us. I had to ask for the wine list as this wasnât offered. No drinks list was offered. When we ordered I was told that the herrings on the âspecialsâ list werenât available. It would have been nice to have been informed of that up front. Our entrees were both very enjoyable but unfortunately my fish main was very dry and I ate very little of it. Only when our plates were cleared were we asked how things were, I mentioned that the fish was very dry - no comment from our waiter. Also, after we had ordered, we overheard other guests being directed to a specials board that hadnât been pointed out to us (and was behind me).All of this backed by the soundtrack of a female voice from the kitchen barking orders/instruction at someone.Overall, a very unprofessional and disappointing experience. All the more so as we have enjoyed our stay in âLossieâ very much. There is a very real opportunity here for someone to do it right.
