The Deers Hut is a quintessential English pub with excellent dining, situated in the heart of the countryside at Griggs Green, yet easily accessible from the A3 south of Liphook. Originally built as a Queen Anne Hunting Lodge in the 1600's, this delightfu
All three of us eating said our main courses and desserts were superb. Service was attentive, friendly, fast and faultless. We have been here a number of times before, but only sitting outside in the summer, so we already knew that the food was consistently good but today noticed the atmosphere inside, interior design and table settings were so nice. Even our guest commented on what a lovely place it was. Highly recommended and worthy of the praise they recieve.

Traditional country village pub located in Greatham Village, Hampshire. Great choice of Beers, Soft Drinks, Spirits (especially Gin!!), and wines. Food Served Tues - Sat (12pm to 2.30pm, and 6pm to 9pm), Sundays 12pm to 4pm. Excellent value for money menu
Visited the pub on a cold wet August Sunday, hoping for a warm cosy pub.........how wrong could we be! The pub was cold, dismal and souless. However, the bar staff seemed very pleasant. Sadly, the lunch was very disappointing. I had roast pork, not a nice taste, tasted liked it it had been cooked in old oil. It was dry and felt it may had been cooked a lot earlier and then heated up. The roast potatoes were bland and not very roasted, the veg was ok. My friend had fish and chips which was apparently ok but the white fish was grey. We are local but won't be returning.....an expensive mistake.

We had a lovely healthy lunch here in the quirky stylish old chemist decor.Great portion size and love the fact you can select three (or six) unique healthy options of salads to go with your main.Lots of other options were available plus some specials on the day. Also a great selection of cakes, plus a big range of teas.So nice to visit an independent run restaurant like this, the owner seemed genuinely passionate about her offerings.Friendly staff and great service, we will return.

First visit for a few months. Friendly and efficient service with very good food. The batter on the fish literally melted in the mouth and the Gelato for the desert was excellent. So what went wrong to spoil this great experience? I asked for the bill and when it came, I paid in cash and was expecting nearly £4:00 back in change. At no time did I say to anyone to "keep the change" and you can imagine my dismay (and that of the staff) that when I went to find out what had happened, that I found my change had been put in the "Tip" pot already. It was given back much to the mutual embarrassment to us all. I would have given a tip, but the presumptuous nature of this transaction did annoy me so much at the time, so I didn't.In hindsight there may have been some kind of misunderstanding at the time the bill was paid, but I don't know how that could have been to be honest. I never said "Keep the change" or even intimated it.This could put me off The Temple, but it won't. There is too much good going for the pub/restaurant, but a clear policy about tipping needs to be put into place please.Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are glad you enjoyed your meal with us and apologize about the misunderstanding at the end of the evening. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

I have been here before. About 50 years ago when I was a single young soldier. I have tried a few times since to find it again but never could. I was beginning to think it was like the Magic Toyshop except it sold the best ploughman's lunch ever. Massive slab of cheese, equally large slab of butter and excellent ham with great bread. I was reminiscing about this when my wife said. "I know how to get there." And so she did. It's still a great place. This time round I had the cottage pie which was unbelievably good. Not cheap but good value. Looking a other people's plates it seems that the portions are still generous. The pub itself is a magnificent find. Looked to me as if it hadn't changed in 50 years and probably longer. It's snug and friendly and tucked away in the countryside. I would heartily recommend it to anyone. It's also dog friendly, not that I have a dog. But if I did I would take it there in a flash.

A great restaurant where everything is freshly prepared and cooked to order at a very reasonable price. Great range of gluten free welcome when you have a brother who has severe coeliac reactions.

The Turtle Bean Cafe is the perfect place to meet and enjoy a very fresh atmosphere whether youâre just meeting friends or walking. They also have an outside area if youâre a dog walker or like to sit in the sunshine.

My fiancé and I went here to celebrate our anniversary and we werenât disappointed in the slightest. Everything about this restaurant is amazing, from the hosting to each course. Nathan and Evie really know what theyâre doing here. Evie is so welcoming and warm, taking a real interest in each and every person who walks through the door. Nathan has created amazing, tasty and well balanced dishes, all presented beautifully. Stand out dishes of the evening were the saddle of venison and the pistachio soufflé. The venison was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. The meat samosa that accompanied it was incredible! Such delicate and delicious spicing. The pistachio soufflé was fluffy and light. It paired perfectly with the chocolate sorbet. My fiancé doesnât usually like sweet nutty desserts, but happily shared this with me and said that heâd order his own one next time we visit! Nathan even decorated the plate with âHappy Anniversaryâ in chocolate, which was a lovely, thoughtful and delicious addition. Canât wait to visit again! Evie and Nathan deserve a Michelin Star.

I must stress that the rating refers to our particular experience on 22nd August, as a visit last year merited five stars. We planned to lunch at this pub as it is situated midway between two elevated landmarks on the Hanger Way . Having parked near the pub in the morning and walked the 5 miles to Shoulder of Mutton Hill and back, we planned to walk a similar distance to Noer Hill and back in the afternoon after lunch . However, despite arriving at the pub just after 1 o'clock, we were informed that, unless we had reserved a table, we could have no food. This of course, entirely ruined the planned afternoon walk as, by the time we had driven somewhere else to eat, it was too late to walk to Noer Hill. We have never experienced before the need to book to eat at a pub for a mid-week lunch, and were most surprised on this occasion as, although the pub was busy, we had found a table without any problem. As we imagine this pub is popular with walkers of the Hanger Way, we would urge booking to ensure that more than a bag of crisps is on offer after a strenuous morning's hike.Good afternoon to you and thank you for your review. The Hawkley Inn continues to enjoy the most amazing success and has been exceptionally busy during the Summer holiday period and we have found ourselves in the enviable position of having to, on rare occasions, where customers don't reserve a table beforehand, of not being able to offer them service. This does not offer people such as yourself any comfort of course, and so we would always suggest calling before planning your day, just to check we can accommodate you; and can only apologise that our popularity has resulted in your disappointment. We do hope to see you again, and would strongly recommend a call to one of our fabulous staff who will be delighted to assist you. Kindest regards
