Ours is a very small (we like to say compact and bijou), traditional tea room which only serves home made scones and cakes, no sandwiches or hot food. Our scones were recently given a rating of 10/10 by the Sunday Post Scone Spy and we are very proud of t
Absolutely love it here. Itâs the first place we go to when we holiday on Barra each year. The (10 out of 10) scones and the raspberry and custard cake are delicious, as are every other cake weâve tried, and they do great coffee too. Itâs very good value for money. Always a friendly welcome from both the owners and Spud. Roll on next July.

One of the many great things about Barra is the availability of the freshest fish and seafood there is. The Heathbank offers several of these items on their menu so I opted for the langoustines as a starter and monkfish wrapped in pancetta as my main. What can I say except FANTASTIC!!!It's meals like this that stay in your mind for a very, very long time. The service was excellent too. There was only one complaint...the creme brulee and the cranachan had run out by the time we were ready to have our desserts, but the banoffee pie had the lightest and very buttery pastry which tasted just like shortbread. We later spoke to the owner Marion who makes the desserts fresh daily and managed to find out her wonderful pastry recipe. If I was a local, I genuinely would be there every week. I can't wait to get back to Barra to try more of the delicious food on offer at the Heathbank.

Worst seafood meal experience ever at the Craigard Hotel, Barra - in my opinion the langoustines were overcooked, prior to that the soup had to be sent back because it was luke warm, the chef was then condescending and I found the manager very intimidating - Hebridean hospitality not!

Decent value and pretty good quality fish suppers. Easily the cheapest way to get pretty good food on Barra in an evening
