A small Italian restaurant serving delicious, freshly made, authentic Italian food.
My husband and I travelled from Ayr (around 45 minutes) to this restaurant after reading so many 5 star reviews on here. Being 38 weeks pregnant and finding most menus donât cater for pregnant ladies I was happy when I saw the menu online and so we booked for our wedding anniversary meal.On arrival we were slightly disheartened by the appearance of the building itself, lacked âpavement appealâ with stubbed our cigarettes and litter at the entrance as well as an abundance of flies as you walked in the front door- however, we continued into the building hopeful we would be surprised. The smell of stale smoke and beer was not great as the pub joining the restaurant which was crowded with loud drunk men caught our attention. As we made our way into the restaurant area on the left hand side which was dull and uninviting we were directed to the furthest away table - directly below a speaker which was playing very loud dance music. The seats and tables were dirty with crumbs and sticky marks. The menu was presented to us and appeared shabby and much less inviting than what we had seen online - the same content only on a sheet of A4 paper. We were directed to some specials which were scribbled on a whiteboard with a marker pen on the other side of the restaurant. As this was a special occasion we decided against eating in this establishment- we paid for our drinks and left. I would like to think we would have been pleasantly surprised by the food if we had decided to stay- however I dread to think about the presentation of the kitchen when I consider the restaurant itself. Very disappointing considering the âglowingâ reviews which worryingly do not match our experience in the slightest.Dear Emma HI am very surprised and disappointed firstly that trip advisor allowed this review considering that you did not even dine or allow our service team to give you a great experience. Yes our little restaurant may not be The Ritz however as you have seen by our TA ranking the other 125 5 star reviews cannot be wrong. They also by the way had the common courtesy of at least trying a dish. Giving a small suburban establishment a 1 star review without giving them a chance is disgraceful. The pub next door is what you would expect from a pub on a Saturday night meaning Emma people are enjoying themselves. I also see many other establishments all over the globe are getting the 1 star treatment in your reviews. I really donât think much would please you Emma and I would put on record for other restaurants to be aware of TA reviews you post in the future. My chefs and service staff did not deserve this.Regards Derek

We booked this hidden gem off the back of the trip advisor reviews, Iâm so glad we did! Stepping into the restaurant, the old bar stood tall as we passed to be seated in the dining room complete with mood lighting and old tea sets as decor. So simple, a little old fashioned perhaps but something about this place immediately relaxed me. The food....simply wonderful. The dishes served to us were balanced, filling, beautifully presented and the flavour consistent in each plate we consumed. The service....as good as the food, for me it really makes the evening when the team out front care as much about your evening and experience as you do. (A credit to your restaurant!)Thank you for such a lovely evening, I look forward to our next visit.

First time to this restaurant on Saturday evening and have already booked for a return visit. The food was absolutely delicious as was the wine. Service was good - staff very friendly. The restaurant is quite small but has a nice ambience - would recommend making a reservation. I happened to be in area, rain had started , so I thought , where can I find somewhere nice for a quick bowl of soup and get out of rain.Read very appealing tasting menu in window and went in.Iam SO glad I did. Very cheerful guy (Frank , I think was his name ) welcomed me, and told me to take a seat (anywhere I wanted,,,,, that alone was a plus point for me, as sometimes waiters do not give you a choice , despite if place is quiet or not)Menu , choices, and cost were all excellent. The soup I have to say, was delicious !!!! ...Borscht served with lovely whole meal , soft bread, soft butter( with fab sprinkled sea salt over it )I loved my visit here, and I cant wait to bring friends back with me the next time to try more of the offerings on the menu.In summary, a warm welcoming place, with great food and staff.!!!!.

We decided to eat at the hotel after a long day of touring. We did not have reservations but were quickly seated. The restaurant is large but with sectioned off areas that made it feel intimate. Had heard rumours of the venue south of the river and eventually managed there for lunch - what a delight. The main menu is full of delightful choices for each course and the fresh seafood is the main draw. Fresh delicious seafood cooked and served by attentive staff. A return visit is a must and whilst the extensive wine list may appeal to some, their extensive selection of gins is also worth a look.
