Found this cafe after wandering round Dorchester, actually came in the entrance by Waitrose. Sat outside in the courtyard in a sunny spot. Staff were attentive and friendly. We both ordered a sandwich and were extremely impressed with them. Lovely thick soft bread and almost over filled. One of the best we've had for a long time. Looking forward to visiting again!

Came for lunch while visiting Dorchester. We were just passing. Very pleasant surprise. Its obviously popular with locals. Service was prompt and efficient. As it was our first time we didn't attempt anything other than basic luncheon fare but what came was really good. Coffee was good as well - not always available even in more expensive places.dear Retiredtraveller,Thank you for your recent visit whilst passing through Dorchester, I'm so pleased to see you had efficient, prompt service and your lunch and coffees were really good! I hope you'll stop by if in town again to sample some dishes from our longer lunch menu too and thanks for your review!

Great breakfast, lovely building, lovely staff, cute little village. Perfect value for money. We didn't have dinner here but stayed in the B&B. Very clean and nice, modern en suite room. We were very lucky to find a room here during a very busy weekend, after another property, Anglebury House in Wareham, and Booking.com messed us about and cancelled our booking. The New Inn looked a million times better and we had a great night here. They were very accommodating despite we booked at the last minute and late in the evening. When I visit the area again, I will definitely stop here, but I will book directly and not through Booking.com which was a disaster with terrible communication and lies.

A great meal and a great sleep... Local food and proper pillows, that's what we do at the Greyhound. It's a centuries old coaching inn set in an ancient Thomas Hardy village so pretty it takes your breath away. Think of soft, rounded chalk hills, watercre
Food superb, staff attentive and friendly. Eight of us and never a fault with four or drink order! It's a great shame Trip Advisor shows the Address as Dorchester when searching for Sydling St Nicholas as it has frustrated me in leaving a report on the correct "Greyhound"

Traditional country pub with large car park in the beautiful village of Martinstown just outside Dorchester. Homemade, locally sourced food, real ales and dog friendly. Two fully ensuite spacious Bed and Breakfast rooms - one with wheelchair access and we
I visited this lovely cosy pub with my friend who lives in the village. We had dinner which consisted of bread with balsamic and olive oil for dipping and calamari to share as a starter. The calamari was one of the best for a long time, not rubber bands that were tasteless but morsels of the freshest seafood lightly battered with sauce for dipping. Bread was fresh and olive oil tasted of good quality. We followed with crayfish linguine which was exquisite. Lots of delicate tasting fish in a creamy and garlicky sauce which was so plentiful we struggled to finish it all. Wine was also excellent quality and not overpriced. I live in central Dorchester and sadly do not drive so being here was a really treat and if I was nearer I would definitely frequent this pub on a regular basis and get to know the owners and the regulars. It is also dog friendly and the lovely waitress made a fuss of our dog and there was even a biscuit for her! We are planning another visit very soon when we are next due another âgirlie night out!âHi Christine,Thank you for your feedback and kind words. We are so chuffed you all had a lovely time.

Breakfasts, lunches & afternoon teas in classic comfortable tearoom setting. Daily specials. Fabulous free wifi. Dog Friendly. Event catering
Dropped in for an afternoon cup of tea and coffee purely on impulse as we walked past and it was good value from the prices we could see. Service was instantaneous with the waitress asking us immediately what we were after so that we had the right menus. The prices were very reasonable and we were able to get nearly two cups of tea out of the pot! I fancied something a little sweeter but unfortunately the prices, for what I would have got, were a little on the steep side for us so I didnât partake.

An intimate, fourteen cover fine dining restaurant. Serving a stylish British cuisine in Dorchester.
We visited selecting the 4 course taster menu. We did not choose the wine selection and it seemed that we rushed through the courses with hardly a pause between. Our meal was finished in about an hour. On the plus side each of the courses were well presented and had a good balance of flavours especially the dessert. During our visit there was a continuous high pitched whine from the fridge fan which we found very annoying and distracting. Sorry but whilst the food was OK our evening felt rushed and had little ambiance.

A brand new chain of restaurants, specialising in Handmade Pies and Burgers. Serving local real ales, craft beers and ciders
An outstanding restaurant, with brilliant food and fantastic customer service. The menu is loaded with so many great choices it was difficult to choose. Luckily I went with a group of people who all tried different things and everyone was really happy with what they ate. I was particularly blown away by the customer service. Even though it was a busy evening we were looked after personally by the owner (who was a top fella). Pre warning - come with an appetite, especially if you want to try some of the bigger options on the menu (the pie/burger combo looked epic). I personally went for the 3 2 1 challenge. A beast of a meal... If I'm ever this way again I will be back for more!

Based on recommendations and reviews, we were full of anticipation as we headed for this restaurant to celebrate my wife's brthday - and it over-achieved our expectations in so many ways. The location is picture perfect, and if you are lucky enought to dine on a perfect summer's evening, then you to can enjoy drinks and perfect canapes in the beautifully tended garden. We arrived early, but that didn't seem to bother the staff, and it wasn't until we went in to dine that we realised how busy they were. The menu is not huge, but well-balanced and making use of local produce in really imaginative ways. My guernard starter was perfectly cooked and beautifully balanced with a citrus dressing, and my wife's fresh crab version of eggs benedict really tasty. We both chose the pan-fried lamb steak which - again - was perfectly cooked, and followed it with a strawberry shortbread for her and the local cheese board for myself.Herein was the only major disappointment of the meal. With all the care and attention that had been put into the food preparation, ambience and service - it just didn't seem right to serve beautiful, tasty local cheeses with a couple of toasted crusts (admittedly homemade) and a pile of Jacobs cream crackers straight out of the packet. Not even a selection. Just cream crackers: like an out-take from Wallace & Gromit. The wine list is wide ranging and provides plenty of choice in terms of price range, half-bottles and by the glass. There are some rooms available if you book early enough and don't want to stint you intake. If - lilke us - you failed to book in time, the staff were incredibly helpful in tracking down a local cab company. This is a restaurant I would find difficult not to re-visit if in the area. Really a great dining experience. But bin the crackers.
