Very very enjoyable brunch, sat in the sun out front. Lovely setting in a lovely village. We had Eggs Florentine, Eggs Royale, Full Yorkshire Breakfast and Smashed Avocado and poached eggs. All were delicious, the hollandaise sauce on the Florentine and Royale was absolutely gorgeous. Terrific breakfast / brunch.

Busy and lively in the evening. Basically good "Pub Food", although the night we were there various items were off the menu by 8pm. However they could be forgiven by an extremely friendly and efficient staff, and it was no trouble to organise a substitute from the kitchen.

Following some literature from where we were staying we decided to forgo our normal breakfast and have it here - being as it was awarded the Best Breakfast in Yorkshire. Our expectations were very high, sadly misplaced however. Donât misunderstand me it was a nice breakfast but we struggled to see what set it apart and gave it the claimed accolade. Friendly efficient service, in cold surroundings and very little seating. It was hot, fresh and tasty but nothing spectacular at all. The farm shop although offering some examples of local produce also offered the same type & brands of fayre found at the vast majority of farm shops.

Is A Pub And Resturant And Has A Few Rooms
This is a quiet country pub situated in the middle of town. If you are looking for music being pumped out over loud speakers or banks of gaming machines, don't go, because you will be very, very disappointed. There was a steady trickle of locals having a pint but it was not busy, in fact the bar man was able to read his newspaper! We had a meal and bother decided on one the day's specials which was Barnsley Chop whic was very nice and came with chips and vegetables - nothing extravagent but very nice nevertheless and very reasonably priced. The decor could do with cheering up as it appears rather drab and it might want to celebrate the local area with some pictures or even some explanation of it's history as it bills itself as a 13th century inn. If it is that old there must be some history to the place especially with regard to the local area having several airfields during World War II.

Had drinks in the upstairs bar prior to dinner after a lovely welcome from Lisa. It is a lovely, comfortable, quirky room which gives a great start to the evening. The dining room is beautifully appointed and the food was great. My wife had bresaola followed by spinach and ricotta ravioli and I had smoked salmon and prawns followed by belly pork with wonderful crispy crackling. Oh and I forgot to mention superb home baked sourdough bread. When we are next back in this neck of the woods we will definitely return.

Went for a works leaving do. I'm veggie and coeliac but after calling them up they were happy to make me something not on the menu. The food was really nice and service was friendly and efficient. The only reason I haven't given it 5 was due to the very limited veggie /vegan options on the menu. Hi, thanks for your kind words. We launched our Autumn/Winter menu on the 4th October, were you with us before then?We have the majority of the new menu covering today's dietary requirements so hopefully when you return next time there will be more options for you. Thanks again

We were touring & just happed across this place on a Sunday..... It was very very busy for family Sunday lunches but we are really glad that we hung around. The lady who greeted us at the door was very good & found us a table for two pretty quickly even though we had not booked. We both had roast dinners...one pork & one beef. They were both more than ample & excellent quality. My wife's beef was slow roasted but still rare in the middle as we love it...it was the best she had ever sampled. My crackling piece was superb as was the pork. Throughly recommend & we certainly would return if/when in the area. Thanks to all the staff who were attentive & caring.Thank you so much, we advise booking but always do our best to accommodate everyone we can. Glad to hear you enjoyed our Sunday lunch so much, especially our slow cooked beef!
