We arrived spontaneously on a Thursday after drinks at monk bar. They didnât have any tables but accommodated us perfectly. Food was fantastic, the landlady is lovely and friendly and really helpful. We had lots of different plates of tapas. Couldnât fault the place to be honest. A nice atmosphere we were in a side room so itâs wasnât too noisy. Chorizo style dip with flatbread was particularly yummy. All the food and drinks were faultless. We will be back.

We have not been to Georgeâs for a couple of years and used to come here all the time, but we were not very impressed. I ordered a large fish with chips and it was more like a mini fish, very thin, more batter than fish. The batter was good as was the chips but please we want a thicker piece of fish. Not sure weâll be back any time soon.

My wife and I visited 'The Loft' for the first time after a recommendation from one of our friends and I must say how disappointed we were. We both ordered the Rump of Beef with Garlic Mash, Tender-stem Broccoli and Spring Onion 'foam'. We didn't order a starter as we wanted to leave room for a dessert. Firstly the good points: We were served with a small glass of warm cauliflower soup with turmeric-flavoured bread, which was both unexpected and very nice. The Rump of Beef was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. However that was it. The rest are all criticisms: Firstly the tables had all been varnished in an extremely sticky varnish, which gave the impression that the tables had not been cleaned properly. Everything stuck to them and they felt very uncomfortable. The waitresses were plentiful but as the restaurant was nearly empty, they talked and laughed very loudly to each other, making uncomfortable listening. As previously said, the Rump of Beef was delicious but the 2 spoonfuls of Garlic Mash didn't taste of Garlic, The Broccoli was ok but in short supply and the Spring Onion 'foam' didn't taste of anything. The 'Jus' which should have bought the whole meal together, and should have been well reduced and full of flavour, was tasteless and in very short supply. The only way we could describe the course (which at £19.50 wasn't cheap) was BLAND and lacking in quantity.Having looked at the desserts, I decided against having one, settling for a coffee instead, but my wife ordered the selection of cheeses with chutney, crackers and celery. This arrived and tasted ok but lacked any celery or salad (I would have expected more for just under £8).The whole meal was very disappointing and we will not be returning.Thank you for taking the time to write a reviewWe are disappointed to learn that you felt the food you had was bland, although described twice as delicious, could I ask if any comments were made up on check back? I have spoken with the kitchen team and they do not recall anyone making comments. We appreciate that sometimes we don't get everything right for everyone's tastes and we would do anything we could to correct any mistakes we may have made on the evening given the chance. As for the waitresses being loud with each other, I can only apologise and will make the necessary actions to ensure this will not happen again.I would like that you would come and try us again so that we can right any wrongs that were caused

A warm welcome awaits you at our family run pub, a hub for real ale drinkers and walkers alike. A traditional 17th century village inn, where highwayman Dick Turpin is reported to have frequented on his travels. An increasingly rare breed of unspoilt inn,
A nice olde worlde pub with lots of little rooms and good outside seating. Great selection of ales and ciders and friendly staff. Only downside is that only cold snacks are available in the evenings. Thanks for the review! Yes unfortunately there is no hot food available in the evenings however if you ever get a lunch time spare I definitely recommend trying the lunch menu!
