Recommended by local b&b owner. Very nice steak and ale pie from local produce. Pleasant atmosphere and big car park. As a solo guest made to feel welcome.

Light, bright and colourful, The Restaurant & Bar in Bristol is an ideal setting for anyone who appreciates good food and warm welcomes. With our contemporary setting and AA rosette we are one of the top restaurants in Bristol.
So, Christmas lunch with work, very basic menu choice, nice space but cramped tables, attentive yet distant staff, starter parsnip soup very goo, main beef, good beef, veg, the sprouts and parsnips were closer to raw than al dente, the potatoes were strange, the gravy was lovely but only a drizzle. £17.95. Bold pricing for very underwhelming food.

The Fox Inn is a popular free house bought 18 years ago by Phil and Lynn, tucked away in the heart of Old Down. Sporting low, oak beamed ceilings and a log fire- that is kept alight during the winter months. Boasting a selection of six real ales, and an o
Quaint English countryside pub. The Sunday roast was lovely, great portions - love the sharing bowls of veggies and so good to have a gravy boat for the table. Very tasty and well cooked food - although some potatoes were over done. Best point is having a large Yorkshire with every option. No Chicken option? Also, couldn't see any Vegetarian roast options. Relaxed atmosphere and beautiful garden & setting. Small car park and limited options in surrounding area. However, the service we received was awful! 90 mins wait? Not long after we sat down we overheard another table complaining about the wait so accepted we might have a little longer to wait. The till said 45 mins (we expect a wait for busy Sunday lunch service) but NOT 90 mins! - It was clear to us that regulars were served first even when they sat down 20 mins after our order! Staff really didn't seem bothered just said "it is coming" As New Customers we didn't feel valued at all. (At the very minimum i'd expect drinks to be offered in compensation). Overall, Disappointing as the food is very good but shame about the service.

We visited with friends on a Saturday early evening. The pub restaurant wasn't particularly busy, but there seemed to be only one member of staff manning the bar, taking food orders and serving! A very pleasant lady, but to say she was overstretched would be an understatement. The food was ok, nothing special, but because of the lack of staff the peas that were meant to be served with two of the meals didn't arrive until the food had been already eaten. We had planned on buying a bottle of house rose wine, but thought £16 a bottle a bit cheeky, so declined. All in all a so-so meal, and poor customer service.

Four of us pre-booked afternoon tea.The staff were friendly and our dietary requests were accommodated. There was plenty of food; each of us had tomato juice, three generously sized sandwiches and four cream/ custard cakes plus a pot of tea. The cost was £12.95 per person. The only negatives were that the tomato juice was too spicy and the wooden serving stands were so bulky it was difficult to see one another! My tip is to remember to ask for your free parking.

Ronnie's restaurant in the heart of Thornbury has turned a crumbling 17th century building into a lively, stylish eaterie and coffee lounge. Recently voted South West Restaurant of the Year by The Good Food Guide, the dining room features exposed natural
Had dinner with friends and loved the tasting menu and wine flight. As ever, the food and wines were superb. The only reason Iâm giving this visit 4 and not 5 stars is that on this occasion the service was clumsy and unprofessional. The ladies serving us were very pleasant, but sadly they were not well trained or informed. The wine and food courses were not served together as they should be - we either had to wait 10-15 minutes for the food (by which time the wine had been drunk!) or we were served our food and had to wait for the wine (whilst our food was going cold). When asked questions about the wine, the waitresses didnât know the answers. This is a great shame as Ronnie and his team of chefs had clearly worked very hard, but they were let down by their front of house colleagues. I hope Ronnie puts this right by the time we visit again and that we receive the high level of service, knowledge and enthusiasm that we have come to expect here.

This traditional inn is a little gem tucked away in the village of Almondsbury, taking its name from the shape of the land surrounding the Severn estuary, which can be seen from the inn. You'll find plenty of thick stone walls, rustic beams and cosy fires
We haven't been to the Bowl for many years and were very happy to return. It's a comfortable pub inside and the tables are well spaced so that you don't feel crowded.A nice welcome from several staff and we were well looked after during our visit. The menu has a number of items which are different from the "usual" pub fare and each of the four of us enjoyed our different choices. Difficult to pick out any one to recommend, but the broccoli spears with poached egg starter was excellent as was the goats cheese and beetroot salad main coursePrices are slightly higher than average for a country pub, but the overall quality and atmosphere justifies that cost.As mentioned elsewhere, pay and display parking opposite the pub is refunded for customers.Thank you Chris for the review. We try to make our guests feel as welcomed as possible and like to relay any feedback to the rest of the team.We are proud of the menu and we very much source local produce from local businesses to get the quality that we like our guests to experience.Thank you very much again and we look forward to your return visitKind regardsTeam Bowl

We had lunch on Monday 8th October. The food was excellent, with a wide ranging menu on offer. Great wine list, with a fair selection available by the glass.Berwick Lodge is set in beautiful (well maintained) grounds, perfect for summer use; and yet in the winter has real fires in it's lounge, once again ideal for a cold winters day.Friendly helpful staff.A couple of minor criticisms :-- we were not asked during lunch if the food was OK- we were not offered coffee at the end of lunch- it's on the expensive side (but the food is very good).(It's very difficult to find â see the detailed directions on the website), but well worth the effort.Dear Stu,Thank you for your review on trip advisor. As a small family run business it is so helpful for us to know what our customers are thinking so we can carry on improving.I am sorry you were not asked if you wanted coffee or tea after your meal or how your meal was.The directions on the website can be printed off and we also have 2 brown signs on the dual carriageway directing customers to us. we really hope to see you both back at Berwick Lodge again soon.Best wishes Sarah

Came for Sunday lunch, opted for the veggie wellington as all the meat looked like it had been there since last Sunday. Turns out the vegetables had also been there since last Sunday. Frozen soggy carrots. Frozen soggy beans. Mush cauliflower cheese. Aunt Bessieâs roast potatoes from last Christmas - and her Yorkshireâs too. Blurgh. Nice staff though.Thank you for comments as we do appreciate all constructive feedback, as I remember on this particular day having served numerous carvery meals and having great customer comments actually from the very next table were you were sitting in fact. On checking your meal we were told that everything was fine. On the second check back made by myself you said that you were not enjoying your meal which of course I was disappointed to here but wanted to make sure that you and your partner had a fulfilling meal which you declined and said you were happy to carry on. Obviously we check back to ensure our guests are happy and that we do not end up with a review like this but sometimes you just can not please everyone
