I'm living in Valparaiso since a year and started missing German beer a lot - until I discovered Tauss Bräu in Limache. The beer is brewed according to the high German quality standard. The brewery is on the countryside and connected to a big rustic beer garden like I know them from home. We were there a few times and while drinking beer - there are always two types - and eating German food, we forgot all the trouble of much more crude and busy Valparaiso. I recommend going to Limache on a nice sunny day. There even is a swimming pool and pick nick area.Without doubt highly recommended. Prost!

My wife and I were touring around the Cerro Concepcion area of Valparaiso when we decided to take a break. We popped into this cute, little cafe. You have to come down a few steps to enter the place. Once you do, you notice it is light and airy and cozy at the same time. It is charmingly decorated, clean and overall very appealing - the kind of place that invites you to while away a lot of time. There was a small wood-burning stove tucked away in a little niche, and on the other side of the room was an old upright piano. They have live music there at 6 in the evenings. We only had the cheese and ham plate and some wine. The wine was delicious and cold and the ham and cheese were excellent and extremely reasonable. The young woman who served us was very warm and friendly. She was making some sort of savory tarts that smelled wonderful. Unfortunately we couldn't stay to have one.I would highly recommend ducking into this cafe for a drink and a snack. It was the perfect spot to take a relaxing break.
This is a new place in a cute street in the hills of Valparaiso. We arrived here cuz we wanted some place to have drinks and a good chat with some friends. When you enter the building you are automatically impressed by the decoration and environment (just loved it). The problem is that the menu is not very varied (they only had one type of beer - imported -, which was good, but I wanted to try something local). We had some appetizers that were delicious, but tiny and not cheap, but worth trying. Also the cocktails were quite good. I wish the service had been a little faster, and that they had more alternatives for non alcohol drinkers.

Saborcolor Restaurant bar, specializing in seafood with a great menu of drinks and Chilean wines located in a building from the early twentieth century on Cerro Concepcion Valparaiso historical heritage of humanity, open every day of the year.
We were looking for a place for late lunch and happened to come across Saborcolor. The front looked like a bar and the name said Bar, since I don't drink I wasn't sure about the place but glad we tried it. The restaurant side is nice and modern looking, the waiter speaks good English and very friendly. I ordered the Leg of Lamb and my husband had the medallion steak. Both dishes were very tasty and the presentations were like something out of the Gourmet magazine, all with very reasonable price. We are totally satisfied.Estimados señores, vuestra crÃtica nos reconforta y alienta a seguir mejorando.Mil graciasAlvaro Figueroa Zabaleta Saborcolor

Altamira Brewery is located at the heart of Valparaiso (World's Heritage Site) where the first Chilean brewery was founded, back in 1825. Following the brewing tradition of the European immigrants, we continue to produce beers using the same methods of th
If you like (or more) your beer, definitely come by 'Altamira'.Wide range of selections (plus wines & cocktails), ranging from lighter lagers and witbier up to hefty, flavourful, refined IPA and stouts.Service is swift and kind; they offer flights; you can take away their draft beer in growlers (or bottles); location is pretty much perfect for exploring lower Valpo. All said: excellent!
