Great food! Not expensive yet very tasty. Super friendly owner who makes you feel very welcome. The brewery is slightly outside Salzburg altstad but close enough. Authentic atmosphere.

Carl Zuckmayer refers to this place in his memoirs, as do countless other celebrities, who have drunk this or that glassful at the Braustüberl. They did so for a good reason.
About 20 minutes walk from the old town and you'll see a large yellow building with its name on it. The beer was good and we also had the roast pork which was excellent.

Die Weisse is a quintessential biergarten located in a quiet section of Salzburg. We were told that it is primarily frequented by locals; but, there were many tourists there on the night that we visited. They have both indoor and outdoor seating in a casual setting. We selected some of the local specialties and were very pleased with our selections. This restaurant is worth seeking out.

Our AirBnB host recommended Zwettlers to us as a place that locals dine. We went for dinner and ultimately enjoyed it so much, we returned the next night. It has a great atmosphere inside, and we had friendly and helpful waitstaff. The restaurant is one of many places we discovered, to our surprise, doesn't take credit cards. (There is a written notice of this policy, appearing on 3 different pages of the menu, as well as signage visible at the bar when you walk in... despite this, an angry American customer berated the waiter as he left, saying "you really should tell tourists you don't accept cards." As we three Americans noticed this policy easily, without any help, it was sad and frustrating to see a fellow countryman's poor behavior on display.) The food, wine, beers and schnapps were all very enjoyable. We did a mix of menu items, and items off the board of specials. (It helped that one of our party was nearly fluent in German; although our wait staff spoke English quite well.)
