This is the well known gastronomical restaurant (with the French top chef Cedric Laxenaire) of Hostellerie Mont Kemmel. It was founded in 1954 and included in the famous international culinary guides Michelin and Gault & Millau. HMK is a 4-star rated hote
Excellent gastro restaurant. If you are there for the full evening, recommend you try their specials menu, offering good value imaginatively presented six courses of a high gastronomic standard. Locally sourced produce, wines as expected a tad expensive, all served by discrete, welcoming, friendly and efficient staff. Fab views, immaculately dressed tables.

In a group of four people, three people took the bistro menu, while the fourth person chosed for king crab and fish stew from the menu. Everything was well presented and very tasty. My only negative comment is that we got a table near the stairs to the restrooms. Although we had booked the table long enough in advance and requested a quiet table, this worked well annoying.

I was on a motorbike trip with some friends visiting Ypres, another biker friend from the area introduced us to this restaurant. Although they were very busy and more or less full they found us some room, lovely decor, very cosy and friendly. Best of all was the food and beer as recommended by the waitress. This will be a definite when back in the area

Arriving on a wet Sunday, mid-afternoon, when we were touring about some of the World War 1 sites, we happened upon this cafe / restaurant. Sure that we were outside of "normal" mealtimes, we were welcomed inside, the table set-up and some really delicious food served up. We found the service exceptionally pleasant and felt we had really found a gem. This small town has a most interesting small museum where we viewed a short audio-visual presentation about the Battle of Messines Ridge June 1917. Charming people. A wonderful place.

Very nice and comfortable place to have dinner. Limited menu card but very good quality. Try unknown beers as they fit perfectly with the proposed meals.

Having arrived late Sunday afternoon in Bailleul France we had already booked De Bralle as we knew everything in the town is closed on Sunday. We found a warm welcome and sat on the terrace overlooking farmland. My wife ordered duck breast with cod for myself. Both came nicely presented with potatoes and vegetables. A decent house wine rounded off a delicious meal. My wife's portion of duck was huge. It didn't get wasted.Service was good with the owner speaking excellent English.Thank you very much for the kind words, hope to see you again!regards Salima

The restaurant's name, "In the Sun", was well chosen for the evening that we were there. It's located on the Western slope of the Scherpenberg hill, and it has a fine garden where all visitors will be served when weather permits. But inside, the restaurant is similarly worthwhile, with all kinds of decorations from the Jugendstil period. Cooking is fine, and you're welcomed with a rich choice of "amuses" that on it's own form a course. For the main course, the menu features some Flemish specialties (like "zurzelstoemp", a mash of sorrel and potatoes based on buttermilk), but those operating on the more conservative side will enjoy their steak of horsemeat that comes exactly in the way you want it, from "saignant" (rare) to well done. "Well done!" was also our overall impression when leaving.

Came upon this place by chance the day before when we stopped for a coffee after a longish drive from Troyes on our way to Ypres. We decided to return for lunch the following day and were not disappointed. As vegies we were well catered for by our Hostess who took time out from a very busy lunchtime to talk to us. The food was excellent and the service from all the staff was first class. Once again full of locals which is always a good sign. Highly recommended.

Wonderful rustic setting on the edge of a small forest, with open fire and a great collection of Belgian beers. Not the most vegetarian friendly menu (as perhaps the hunter's setting would also suggest) but friendly and accomodating, also to gluten allergies.
