We visited the restaurant with a group of ten people and had a nice dinner there. The service was quick and friendly and the whole restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere. The menu didn't offer anything surprising or innovative - nothing you would not get in most Flemish restaurants. The prices were fairly high but considering the overall quality of the food they seemed justified. We had kaas and garnaalkroketten, vitello tonnato, vol-au-vent, salad with chicken tandoori, different steaks and fries fillet of cod - which were all of good quality. Only one of the starters we head is definitely not a recommendation, the millefeuille de aubergines came an overpriced and uninspired vegetable dish drowned in a tomato sauce that resembled heated tomato pulp straight from the bottle. It has to be positively remarked that in L'Etranger they do not follow the Belgian police of limiting the choice for groups to 3 or 4 different dishes. So everyone could choose whatever they liked. The choice of wines from the menu is rather limited, the house wines may appeal to the taste of many but will not be the right choice wine lovers. On the other hand there is a choice of wines advertised on a blackboard. These are rather exotic and definitely interesting for those who have always wanted to try Canadian Chardonnay. Well there is water... and of course excellent Belgian beer which can be paired with the dishes. All in all not an unforgettable experience, but a good one. I would go again.

Went twice during my stay, it is a small but very good restaurant. The ambiance, service and the food quality. Western food and some seasonal plates. The main plates are good sized, even the salad is a good size. Wine selection and the menu are well done. We enjoyed the meal, a plate with a dessert and drinks maybe around 35 -45 euros.Dinner maybe a little more but recommend the experience.

This restaurant was truly delightful. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. The food is fantastic, elegantly served and wonderfully flavourful. We enjoyed a table at the window overlooking a quiet flowing river. This is truly a hidden gem! Don't pass it by!

My wife and I rode our bikes on a tour of Belgium in September 2014. We stopped here on a Sunday around lunch time for coffee and a drink.First off, this place is located right off the bike path, so if you are on bikes it is very convenient for you to lock it up and wander right in for your meal. We sat outside on the patio which was almost full that afternoon. We had recently eaten lunch, but we needed to get a pick me up to finish our ride from Mechelen to Temse, so we stopped here. The service was prompt, and they were able to help us with our lack of Flemish or French. I ordered a shot of Jenever and my wife enjoyed her coffee. I wish we had been hungry because the eel at this location is supposed to be excellent. Maybe I'll get a chance to return and try it sometime.

Great ambience, great food, service occasionally poor - we had to ask three times for a bottle of water. The head waitress was very helpful and tried to accommodate my non dairy, gluten and yeast diet. The only fail was the cream as decoration on the berries I had for dessert. The location is breathtaking and sitting on the terrace during a long summer evening is immensely pleasurable.

Restaurant opened on 1 July 2016, we were there with colleagues for Lunch and had the delicious home made Vol-Au-Vent. We were surprised about the quality of the food and friendliness of the staff. We could have been served maybe a little bit faster, but waiting time was more than acceptable, specially for such a start-up business. We will come back for sure!Thank you very much for this nice reaction Tom! We are happy to hear you had a nice time with us. We are looking forward to seeing you next time.

very good concept, in the same building is also an art gallery , Wilford X with temporary exhibitions and when the food on your plate is also dressed like a painting, the circle is round ! The chef was recently nominated as a " young Kitchen Force " you can find him in the Gault Milault also, so I should say , give it a try and you will not be disappointed !

This restaurant gave us a luxurious feeling without being overwhelmed. We still felt 'at home'. The service was excellent. The staff was all female, all dressed in the same cute uniform. They did a fantastic job. The food itself was very good. The only negative about the place is that the menu was imposed. There was no choice at all. As a main course there was a pigeon, something that I don't like but there was no alternative. Only for the desert there was the choice between a sweet desert and cheese. I don't mind menus but they should at least give you the choice between two dishes for the main course. Apart from this, we had two times fish as a starter and it was al delicious. Also the desert was very creative and tast was lovely. All dishes were light, not heavy. We could easily eat all but this was good news as we still had a little place for the sweets that came with the coffee. Also these were great.Next to the coffee, they serve some 'special teas'. We tried their 'mojito tea', based on green tea, fresh mint and honey, it was fantastic.

one star michelin at a reasonble price - I appreciated the market menu's and- really good idea- accompanied" by BOB formula "wines. Hence , you can still drink the wines at at half the glass enabling you to enjoy without the fear of drinking too much. The terrace with green surroundings is really lovely! Service was swift and friendly. Cheese of the dessert tray offered a really large selection to choose from. This was my third time here but I will surely come back again.
