We looked for Due Giganti but learned it also Ca dei Gobj. On a rainy night, it was warm and cozy. The dark wood paneling set the ambiance. We are here in Italy for several weeks so a break from pasta was due although they offer it. We had lamb chops (shoulder) that tasted just right. The backed (yes, that's how it was spelled) potatoes are really roasted but quite nice. The mixed verdure tasted much better than it looked. We had a block that turned to include spinach and maybe broccoli. Anyway, good. The waiter suggest a nice red wine available by the glass and it was truly nice. Oh, yes, you are greeted with a small glass of beer. This restaurant is a lovely mix of the German/Italian culture. By the way, the last word of its name is pronounced Gobi.

I noticed that with one exception all the reviews were from reviewers giving Trento as their address. I like it when there is this depth of local knowledge. This compares with reviews for example from Americans on their first trip to Europe when everything is just great! The restaurant location is not town centre, i.e a taxi ride or by car. Parking was not difficult. It is certainly not a tourist spot as the menu is only in Italian. My wife and I had pre booked and were greeted on our arrival with a complimentary glass of Prosecco. The choice of food ranges from pizza and pasta dishes, sandwiches, salads to a limited choice of meat dishes. Serving portions are very generous. The service was excellent A lively and friendly informal atmosphere contributed to a very pleasnt evening .Thank you

We happened upon this place during a day trip through Trento. It wasn't apparent how large it was on the inside from the modest doorway, but according the history this place has been a restaurant since 1345 but you'd never know. It is beautiful and comfortable on the inside and was packed with what seemed to be locals for lunch. The food here was excellent especially the venison (cervo) which was served with soft polenta and what I think was a wild mushroom sauce.

We happened to stay at a hotel in Mattarello outside Trento. We arrived late after a long drive, tired and hungry. We didnt have any expectations of this place and it seemed to be perhaps the only place open. With locals eating, drinking and smoking away, this place was full of atmosphere. The pizzas did not disappoint either. This was one of those places that you "discover".
