The salad my mother ordered was absolutely huge. She had a choice of pork, chicken or brisket. We ended up taking well over half of it home. The St Louis Ribs were big and meaty as described and fell off the bone. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough sauce and when I asked for more, I didn't get it!!! They wanted me to eat the cold sauce sitting on the table. It didn't taste like the sauce on the ribs, so I didn't want it. The ribs needed the sauce because they weren't very well seasoned. The Seasoned Fries were perfect. They were very crispy and tasted wonderful. My dad ordered the baby back ribs and his ribs seemed more well done. I would have preferred some bark on my ribs, and better seasoning. The food was pricey and decent. While I might consider ordering take out, I probably wouldn't go there to eat again because of their music. Our server was nice and friendly, but didn't seem very experienced. She wasn't as attentive as I would have liked, She did a good job, but could have done better. I asked for more napkins and she brought me one napkin. REALLY!!! Are you kidding me? This is a rib joint! There should have been napkins on the table, ready and available! However, they did provide us with a wet nap in a sealed package which I thought was nice. However, I still needed to go wash my hands. My biggest complaint was the music. We were there on a week day between 1 & 2 pm, and they had what sounded like HARD ROCK Music playing. At one point, the Rock & Roll lead singer was screaming like a banshee loudly over their speakers. The last time I heard this horrible music was when my brother played his records back in the 80's over his stereo!!! And NOT all of it is bad, but this music was unpleasant to say the least! I didn't complain because my parents were there and they are afraid that someone will spit in their food, if we complain about anything. Anyway, the Rock & Roll Music continued to play loudly over the speakers the whole time we were there trying to eat! If I had been there by myself, I would have simply asked them to change it or I would have gotten a take-out container, and left ASAP because of the music.

The #1 quality that separates Cackle & Oink from other restaurants is our service. From the moment you walk through our door, we want you to feel at home and have that feeling of being around great friends. Barbecue has brought friends and families togeth
Cackle and Oink BBQ is on of the best barbecue joints north of Dallas. Everything Iâve eaten from there has been excellent. One of my favorites are the beef ribs when Aaron makes them. Another favorite is the cornbread casserole. The thing that stands out the most is the staff and the fact the owner is more than happy to go speak with customers, take them their food, clean tables, and answer any questions one may have. If yâall are in the Sherman area and are looking for a good place to eat go to Cackle and Oink you wonât be disappointed.

Had lunch here today with my grandson. The same grandson who shared the disastrous excuse for a Q meal with me at 3 Stacks a couple of weeks ago. Hickory House is as good as 3 Stacks is bad. On Fridays they do Burnt Ends. He had the two meat plate (both Burnt Ends) and I had a two meat plate (Burnt Ends and Sliced Brisket). Our meals were off the charts great! Burnt Ends are a tricky thing. It's as easy to get too much fat as it is to get them way too lean and dried out. Hickory House found the "sweet spot" right in the middle and nailed it!As others have noted, it's a really, really cool place and worth the visit just on account of the atmosphere. But make no mistake, the Q is the star of the show. When one finds a place that is literally a Mom and Pop joint like Hickory House, you know that there will be a generous amount of pride and TLC rolled right into each meal.I how have a Q stop in the Sherman-Denison area. Great Job HH!!Highly Recommended.
