The famous "Walk-Up" Shipping container is still located at the corner of Fifth and Bollingbrook Streets in Petersburg, VA. We are proud to now offer full service "Sit-Down" dining in the cream colored building right behind the container. The "Sit-Down" i
Read the great reviews about this place on here and had to see for myself. Not disappointed one bit! The pulled pork was so tender and good and the sauce was amazing. Let me say the Saucyâs slaw was the best slaw Iâve ever had on a bbq sandwich. The cilantro in it gave it the best flavor. The potato salad was equally delicious. I wish our trip was longer so we could come back for more!

Having heard about the restaurant from friends, I wanted to try the fare. I had sliced pork with two sides. The meat was juicy and was cooked perfectly well. I also tried a slice of fresh baked apple pie that was heavenly! It is worth trying if you havenât done so yet.

This place is a tradition in Petersburg. It caters to Lawyers Judges, down and outs, blue collar and white collar. Service is fast and good for a greasy spoon. It sit in the heart of old Petersburg. A great place for B-fast or Lunch.
The Little Pig (Rawlings Barbecue) restaurant is a 75-year legend and a local favorite I stumbled upon during a road trip to New York. I came home to find out more information on the web, because landmarks like this are hard to find in small towns, but always a treasure."Since 1932" reads the sign. And the current owner, Alton Rawlings (who's 72) is the son of the original owners Lee and Bernice Rawlings who started the business during the depression when Lee was laid off from his railroad job. His recipe for barbecue was from a friend in North Carolina, and having lived myself in North Carolina for about 20 years, I can attest to the fact that they're doing a pretty good job. The sauce (not a traditional North Carolina recipe) is a sweet mustard based sauce which reminded me of the famous Maurice's Bar-B-Q in Columbia, SC. The meat was excellent and moist. The bun was soft, and didn't really hold up to the meat. Seating is picnic style on table benches outside under a metal awning-- which was a welcomed respite in the sweltering June heat. You order at the window and have a seat. Southern folks like to say hello and visit, and it appeared to me that people from every background, persuasion and ethnic group seemed to know each other-- they must be the regulars. There's also hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, shakes and more on the menu. My friend had the barbecue and gave me a bite. I had a Fried Bologna sandwich -- if you've never had one, this one is really good! I like mine a bit more crispy done, but it was great to find it on the menu. A real treat. We ordered just about all the sides to have a taste. The potato salad and cole slaw tasted fresh and homemade, but the baked beans were not spectacular-- I guess there's always room for improvement, even after 75 years. There's a sit down barbecue restaurant next door, but this was a true historic roadside experience I will remember for a long time. The town is sadly in need of historic preservation, but the architecture and quaint old homes are stunning even in their current state. I love little towns.

I had the BBQ sandwich with baked beans and french fries...the food was really good...the service not so much. It wasn't busy when I was there, so it was disappointing that the server never came by the table to see if I liked the food, especially since I mentioned that this restaurant was recommended by a local.
