Reviews on Barbecue food in Neptune Beach, Florida, United States. Neptune Beach is a beachfront city east of Jacksonville in Duval County, Florida, United States. When the majority of Duval County communities consolidated with Jacksonville in 1968, Neptune Beach, along with Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach and Baldwin remained quasi-independent. Like those other towns, it maintains its own municipal government but its residents vote in the Jacksonville mayoral election and are represented on the Jacksonville city council. The population was 7,037 at the 2010 census. Neptune Beach is part of the Jacksonville Beaches community.

Having always made my own Country Style ribs that everyone raves about I finally relented to try some old fashioned Florida Barbecue while taking our Grandson to Neptune Beach for a Seminar. The service and waitress was great and cordial could not be more friendly or better. But I saw this as advertised as an old established barbecue establishment since 1954 etc. etc. and was fooled by that advertising finding out it now is actually a chain restaurant, seeming the McDonalds of Barbecue! so I was disappointed with it not being the century old place and owned by family, that should be tried ..That being said the 4 ribs and sides I had for about 1299 seeemed tender and sweet in flavor but the portions were regular for this much cost.

This is our go-to restaurant for great BBQ pulled pork, fries, cole slaw, onion rings and corn bread. Their lunch-time pulled pork portion is ample in size and their fries have a nice fresh taste. Their cole slaw is no over-powered with sugar or vinegar and so is just right. Their onion rings are the BEST we ever had anywhere. I also like their corn bread rather then the Texas Toast and the fact that they have root beer soda. Service is always prompt and friendly.

We are locals and we were looking forward to this new local restaurant opening. The positives are the cocktails are good and the meat (pulled pork and ribs) itself is good. The disappointment is the decor and odd ordering system. There is no ambiance as far the environment which is very plain and almost cafeteria like. The ordering system is not conducive to going out for an enjoyable evening because you have to order at a butcher counter and carry a tray or order from a limited menu at your table. We also did not like any of the barbecue offered and tried them all. I guess being a southerner from Mississippi, we enjoy different kinds of bbq sauce.
