The first Spur i visited was in Newlands in Cape Town. It was the Golden Spur and the owner was Alan. He started the franchise, and offered me a franchise, way back in the late 1960's. Unfortunately, I couldn't talk my late wife into taking a chance with a franchise. But since then, i have been a devotee. Just yesterday, i had an opportunity to have breakfast at Key West. Oh! Wow! The steak was succulent, the eggs done to perfection, the bacon was melt in your mouth.It is more expensive now than it was in Newlands. Then, a burger, chips and a salad was 75 cents. But, Spur franchises still maintain the same high standards of food presentation and quality. And a visit to Spur is still guaranteed to let me leave with a smile on my face. I've visited Spurs from the North to the South of South Africa, and even helped to hang light fitting in Bellville back in the 60's. And i go back!Thanks Alan. You introduced me to a lifetime love. I had ribbs in this restaurant and I realized, but too late, that they were completely different from the ribbs in the menù. They were brown and disgusting, I could taste only the barbecue sauce! After few minutes I got out of the restarant, I felt really bad!!! Never back again!!! Disgusting food and waiters always absent! We asked many times for a sealed bottle of water and they brought to our our table, for two times, a bottle already opened! Under the table there is a very dirty moquettes, how it's possible to put moquettes under the table of a restaurant???? This cafe is on the Avianto property and offers an a la carte menu with buffets over the weekend.Food is reasonably priced and tasty.We lunched here after the day-hike on the property and, being a Sunday, the a la carte options were limited to salads, sandwiches and burgers, I had a chicken salad - delicious and packed with tender chickenIt's best to make a reservation over weekends as the place was bustling when we left with only a couple of table available for people that popped in without a reservation. Tables are either outside under trees or inside with little nooks and crannies that adds to the ambienceService is friendly and efficient. The whole table asked for water and the waitress brought a jug of water and replenished it without us having to askA very good option if you're in the area!

We uad a quick bite before movies started at 14:45. Food is average and nothing exceptional. I took my daughter and grand daughter there for a meal. What a wonderful place for a youngster to play. She had an absolute ball.I had steak and chips as usual. The onion rings were excellent too.My daughter had ribs and wings to share with the 2-year old. A minor problem with the ribs was professionally rectified. The food. You choose your own specific piece of meat, no issues with over fatty steak. The meat is always tender and the chips are amazing. Pap and sauce on offer too for good measure. Absolutely awesome. Burgers are huge and tasty. The service. With manager and owner there everytime we come. We are never disappointed with the service. The vibe. Laid back and genuine. The decor really screams good steak. And they deliver. The value. I rate this one of the highest value for money restaurants around. Depending on what you eat you can get away with a steal. Regardless of price. The food is always amazingWe will see you soon!

We had Heard a lot about carnivore and the ability to try many game meats at one time such as kudo and antelope. We love Brazilian steakhouses so weâre âgameâ to try Carnivore. We were two people so we were ignored because if the larger parties. All the meats were passed once in very quick succession and then they stopped bringing them to our section of the restaurant. The carrot soup was fabulous. The chocolate mousse was good too. My daughter loved the impala, kudo sausage and venison samosa best. I liked the pork ribs. I am not an adventurous eater but I did not like the beef or chicken because they were very dry. The wirelist says champagne is available by the glass but I was told I could not have one because they had to open a whole bottle. The Pinot Noir they served me tasted spoiled but they did not return it. My daughter enjoyed this overpriced experience.
