We live in France and love French food, however once in a while it is good to have a change So when planning our visit to Bergerac we found Le Kristo when we consulted the restaurant list on TripAdvisor. On arrival in Bergerac we wandered round checking out menus for our evening meal of the restaurants that were open on a Monday, they all seemed drearily the same and quite pricey. So we opted for Le Kristo having found it on our exploration of the town. It is about an 800m walk from the Quai Slavette and not in the town centre. (There is parking opposite)We were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome from the owner and his wife. It is a very small restaurant with only 14 covers, this makes for excellent freshly prepared food. The menu was small but the choice on offer was good. Typical Armenian style food with a hint of Greece, Turkey and Lebanon thrown in for good measure. We each had a different starter, I had the Mezze which consisted of 4 freshly prepared dishes, excellent portion size, my husband had the slice rolled aubergines with nuts and garlic. The main courses were mostly grilled meat cooked in a huge typically Armenian wood-fired oven which looked like an overgrown Chiminea! See my photo. Both of us opted for a grilled meat dish. My Chicken brochette was succulent and tasty. Both meals were served with a delicious ratatouille and spiced bulgar wheat. We were the only guests (it was a Monday which is often very quiet off season and also very few restaurants in the main town were open). However, the following evening we were told they were fully booked so booking is advisable. They also do takeaways. The meal was very good value and to be recommended if you want a change from Duck in all its various forms!Thank you both for looking after us so well and for taking the time to chat to us about your life and family in France. We enjoyed meeting you and wish you a lot of success in the future.

visited Bergerac w/c Monday 24 June and it was very hot. luckily I had looked at La Bodega and found the restaurant in a cool alley. Great emphasis was made on the home produced vegetables. a started of mixed tapas with delicious chorizo, potato brave and a veg flan was lovely and the lamb chops cooked over a wood fire were superb.my regret was that we were unable to revisit and explore the menu more. excellent choice though.

My husband and I visited for an anniversary meal to say I was disappointed doesnât cover it! My husband ordered the lamb which he said was very nice. Unfortunately I ordered the entrecôte which, apart from two mouthfuls of meat was all fat!! On discussing this with the proprietor he said it was the same as in the supermarket. Silly me I thought I would have got a better meal in a restaurant!!! Didnât even get a discount offered!!!Bonjour Madame !Votre mari sâest régalé avec son carré dâagneau, vous vous avez déploré le fait que lâentrecôte soit grasse .... et oui... pour nous câest une marque de qualité, surtout lorsquâon la cuit à la cheminée, câest indispensable !Désolé ! Les goûts et les couleurs...
