My wife and I were looking for a roadside restaurant with parking, nice seating, and a view of the mountains opposite -- we found it in Poggio Nativo. The waitress's English was OK, and it got us almost the right drinks to start (Campari on ice, instead of a Campari Sprezze, with prosecco), and heaping bowls of chips and bread. The menu -- and there actually is one! -- was large, and showed a focus on seafood. We ordered the Seafood Antipasti for 1 (E7) -- and it was so good (for two!), nothing fried or doughy, just lots of calamari and squid salads with potatoes, a smoked fish slice, and mussels: perfect! Then my wife got a roast chicken (rare on menus in the area) (E10) and I got a pasta with mussels in a tomato sauce (E7), with a side of grilled vegetables (E3.50). They were great! We ended with a vanilla tartufo with shaved cocoanut (very good), and a pannacotta with chocolate sauce (which overwhelmed the pannacotta). A half-carafe of OK house red wine, and the bill came to E46.50. Not cheap, but it was worth it. We'll be back!

Good food presented in an orignal and modern way that is unusual for a small-town restaurant. The owners are extremely nice and the variety of food offered is extensive. Basically what they do is offer very traditional dishes presented and reworked in a modern way. For example parmesan, rocket and some kind of prosciutto or bresaola is a classic in Italy, but they shred the prosciutto into a fine fluff making it nicer to look at and easier to eat. The entire time I felt I recognized the flavours of the things I was eating but the presentation was very original, you'd get your pasta in special dishes or crowned with breadstick decorations. Some people in the room got a real kick out of presentation, oooohing and aaaahing at every dish. The portions were also amble put not excessive, more modern that what you get in a traditional place. Other nice touches: a quail egg with truffle as antipasto (very yummy), warm chestnuts wrapped in prosciutto or similar (sweet, soft, delicious), duck in raspberry sauce. Lots of fun things to try and a good selection of meats, which is not usual for the Rome area. Overall a truly positive experience, I would definitely reccomend trying this restaurant. Just a few notes: all my dishes seemed to have strawberries in them, from the antipasto all the way to the dessert, I like fruit, and I guess clients get a kick out of it so maybe it's a smart move, but I thought it was a little weird. The wine list which was pretty decent didn't have years for the wines, that's not too cool, you need the years, it makes a big difference. The room is a bit dark, you feel like you're in a cellar, but to the owners' credit they decorated well in order to compensate and the tables are cozy.

We had a family dinner last night at this "minimal restaurant". It's interesting to see the Italians have begun to adopt one American restaurant model...all you can eat of good but not great food! Having said that we really enjoyed all of the offers and the good service. Was also impressed with the price. Will definately look forward to my next visit.

It was our last night in Italy and we were looking for a place for just the two of us to have dinner. We drove all over the area, probably over 100k looking, no GPS just driving with a few ideas. After coming up empty, we decided to drive back to where we were staying and then saw the sign for La Tana del Lupo. We followed the signs and then saw the large neon sign. The food was amazing, service speedy and helpful, the atmosphere was homey and comfortable, and the cleanliness was top notch. We do not speak much Italian, and this was difficult, but easily overcome and the waiter was patient and kind with us. So if Italian is not your first language and feel that every place in Italy should speak English, do not go there, may you should not leave the US and go to Disneyworld instead. But if you are willing to take a chance and try something new, follow signs off the main roads and go into small hill towns and experience the best in italian cuisine.
Happened to pass mammamea on a trip through Italy. We had lunch, and it is simply amazing. Friendly staff and excellent food. We're planning to return for the pizza!

We went there with two friends and their little girl. We ordered "the olive ascolane" some tipical local starters that was really good. Then we ordered "the pinsa", a kind of pizza that I suggest because it is the the most famous dish in this restaurant. The pinsa was wonderful, of course. The owner was really helpful and nice with us. The bill was really correct and honest. Definitely you have to go!
