We've been to Moe's several times. Although their menu isn't that large, what we've tried was really good. Their BBQ has never been dry or tough. Their Jalapeno Grits are totally awesome. They have indoor/outdoor seating and a bar. So both families or singles would enjoy the atmosphere.

I had higher expectations going in the atmosphere is nice our waitress was awesome the beer was cold. The brisket just was not up to expectations as it was tough and chewy as opposed to falling apart on my fork. It is decent but there are many other barbecue options available. It would be a while before I returned.

Charlotte is quickly losing its great old BBQ restaurants. Itâs really hard to find that great BBQ house sandwiches and plates these days that we love and miss. We found Shaneâs at University several years ago and liked it, so when a Shaneâs opened in the same shopping center as Costco in Matthews, we started going there. The sanitation grade was a 95 when we were there, which is low in my opinion and the lowest grade I will eat at anywhere, but the restaurant looked clean from what we were able to observe.If you have not been there, you order at the register, get your own drink, utensils, etc. and find a table. They deliver your food to you. You have several flavors of BBQ sauce at your table. When you have finished your meal, you empty your trash yourself.I usually get the Big Dad combo with Cole slaw as my side, and I take it off the bread. This time, the guy taking our order suggested the pork sandwich which comes with slaw and is cheaper, so thatâs what I got. It comes on a bun, which I prefer over the big Texas Toast bread.My husband got the BBQ chicken as usual with Brunswick stew. That stew is some of the best Iâve ever tasted! It has the barbecuey flavor, but with a kick! It has just the right amount of heat that your taste buds will love.When our food was delivered, I discovered that I had a chicken sandwich instead of pork, so I took it back to the register and they immediately brought out my chopped pork sandwich with a big apology. I loved it! Itâs the same as the Big Dad, but for me itâs just better on the bun. If you like that big bread, then youâll like the Big Dad. We really like this location. Everyone is so friendly and are eager to make you happy. Itâs next to Zoeâs Kitchen near Costco. Check it out!

We decided on Boardwalk Billyâs in Matthews for dinner tonight since itâs been quite a while since weâve eaten there. They werenât super busy yet, so we were seated immediately and just as quickly, our server came to take our drink orders. I noticed that the sanitation grade is 98.5; thatâs great in my book!After looking over the menu for a minute or two, our server came back to take our orders. My husband got the wings and I got the crab cake dinner with hushpuppies.We didnât have to wait very long at all for our food to come out. My hush puppies came piping hot with a homemade honey butter that was to die for! I immediately tried the butter by dipping the hot hush puppy into the smooth, creamy butter. The hot hush puppy with that sweet honey butter melting over the itâ¦Oh. My. Gosh. I couldnât get enough of that sweet, creamy flavor, and wish now Iâd spread some over my crab cakes! Just thinking about it now makes me close my eyes and go âmmmmmmâ.The crab cakes were good and are always my go to, but the rémoulade had a little too much horseradish for my taste tonight. My husband liked his wings and the bleu cheese dressing, as always, had huge chunks of bleu cheese in it. I love to scoop some of those big pieces of cheese on my fork and eat it right off the fork! But, then again, I love bleu cheese!Boardwalk Billyâs is a casual, sports bar-type restaurant that has very good food. Besides this location in Matthews, there is one in the University area as well. You canât go wrong eating there and Iâm sure once you do, youâll go back.
