We like to eat local and found Big Wood thanks to Ms Google while traveling on I-10. Big Wood did not disappoint. Service was friendly and helpful. Everyone was talkative and welcoming. Our server even supplied a hot coffee to go for my husband as we ventured back out into the rain. I relied on the recommendations of our server and chose baby back ribs with a side of baked beans and baked potato. My husband got the sliced beef with beans and baked sweet potato. Everything I had was wonderful. I loved the sweet sauce and the golden sauce that did not have a strong mustard taste. My husband did not care for his beef although our server warned him that the beef was different from brisket. In fact, it was eye of round roast sliced thin. Not my cup of tea, but we were told most people like it. My husband was not one of those. We liked the beans so much, we took some home with us. The alcoholic drink menu had interesting drinks, including some made with moonshine of the legal kind. This will be a definite stop the next time we are on I-10 as it's definitely worth the mile and a half detour from the highway.

It has been in business for decades, so you can find it listed in many places. It is owned by the same people as the Lake City store with the same name.
I ordered one BBQ pork sandwich mid afternoon with a very empty restaurant. I was told it should take no more than 5 minutes to get the sandwich. It took more than 20 minutes to get the sandwich. In the meantime I saw cooks playing around in the kitchen even hanging all over the wait staff.
This small kitchen is located in a large indoor flea market just outside Live Oak, Florida. Several large tables are set up outside the kitchen proper, and on first glance I expected the basic hot dogs and burgers type food. One of the vendors was having lunch as we passed by, and I was very surprised to see barbeque ribs and home made baked beans on his plate. My husband and I decided to give the ribs a try, and they were amazing! They were tender, well seasoned, and fall-off-the-bone delicious! The beans were seasoned with a sweet sauce and ample bits of pulled pork. The potato salad was average, but the service by the owners(Mike and Katie) was exceptional. This hidden secret is open Friday-Sunday and serves sandwiches, burgers, and these amazing pork ribs. There will be a chili cook-off contest on January 19th and I am definitely going to attend. I highly recommend this little gem.
