Fortunately, we always hit La Jonquera at lunch time and this restaurant is always on our list. Mind you, unlike its French counterparts, lunchtime is a very flexible time, anytime between 11.30 and 16.30. The French arrive first at about 12.15 and by the time they have finished, the Spanish arrive from 14.30 onwards. the food is very typically Spanish grill with fish and meat to the fore. nothing fancy but well cookrd fresh produce served in a speedy and friendly fashion. Portions are good (that means large) and i would recommend the grilled mixed fish plate - a large plate of grilled fish and shellfish with the usual catalan potato. we have had the paella in the past but you will have to, rightly, wait half an hour while they make it. after that you can load up with lots of cheap booze if you have room in the car.

le restau se situe au bord de route après la jonquera direction rosas.ambiance un peu "restau de routiers", avec une décoration un peu "ancienne".La cuisine est plutôt simple et familiale, mais la grande surprise a été les plats de viande proposés dans le menu du jour.Agneau au four, et côtelettes d'agneaux ou pavé de bÅuf grillés au feu de bois ... un régal.Voilà bien longtemps que nous n'avons pas mangé une viande aussi tendre et aussi goûteuse.Le patron est venu faire le tour des tables et nous a précisé qu'il choisissait lui même ses viandes (ancien boucher).Bon rapport qualité / prix.
