Krakow is one of the most culturally and politically significant cities in Poland. It was the central site of the Nazi General Government during WWII, and there’s still a residual feeling of solemnity here that’s especially apparent during visits to the Plaszow Concentration Camp and the Oskar Schindler Factory. Both the Historic City Centre and the Jewish District are brimming with cafés, shops, and pubs, and the 10-acre Main Market Square is a medieval feast for the senses.

Iâve been waiting to sample these sausages for weeks. Tonight we dined in high style. A street vendor who for years has served Krakowâs best kielbasa from an old Communist-era Nysa van near Hala Targowa (Market Hall). He only serves from 8:00 pm till 3:00 am and makes his own kielbasa. It was delicious and a great experience! A sausage with bun is $10 Polish. We arrived at 8:10 and waited approx 20 mins in line. Thereâs a small communal wooden table you can stand and eat at. A truly authentic experience.

This restaurant on the Old Square is first rate. The meal was of the highest quality. I had steak which was cooked perfectly and wonderfully seasoned. Even the dessert - chocolate cake and ice cream - was delicious. The service and ambience was terrific. Finally, it cost about $50 US including the tip for the steak, a generous and delicious side order of spinach, the great dessert, and a very tasty Malbec.
