Went looking for a new BBQ place in the area. It is kind of a hole in the wall, which is ok, but the food just seemed mediocre to me. Service was slow and menu was hard to read (written very small in the chalk boards behind the counter. I got the brisket sandwich and my wife got some sort of club type sandwich. It was ok, but definitely not work a return trip. Meat just seemed dry and not enough sauce on it. Portions were ok, but quality did not seem that great. Plus the boxes of bandages and band aids all over the back counter by the registers was a little disheartening !!!!

When we travel through St Louis we stop at Woodsmoke! There are many good BBQ places in STL but this is the one for use. The BBQ is great and when you order a 2 or 3 meat platter you get free pie...pie your mom would love. I know because I took her there. The brisket is well done, the pulled pork or chicken as really good and the ribs are the best. Their sauces are incredible across the spectrum of spicy to sweet. Go! You will really enjoy yourself...and almost guaranteed you will take food home as the servings are large.
Open Tues-Sat 11:00AM-7:30PM. Smoking fresh every day, so we can bring you the best barbecue in town!
PM recently moved to this location and I am glad they are closer to where I work! The brisket sandwich I had on my visit was really good. The baked beans were also really good. The lady who served me was very helpful. The restaurant is on the corner of a strip mall and it is easy to miss. It is worth seeking them out.
Seasonal BBQ business. Open on the weekends in the summer from Memorial day thru the second weekend in September. Barney's serves "Open Pit" BBQ the old fashioned way. We make our own charcoal and have been open since 1963.
Barney's looks like the perfect BBQ joint...it's open only in season, no indoor seating - outdoor picnic tables only, limited parking, stand in line to order, smells wonderful, etc. I've been going there for years because of this perfect and classic profile - it just seems like, from all appearances, that this would be great barbeque. Right down to the weathered barn red paint.Appearances aside, however, the food isn't too special. The main problem, is cooking time - not enough of it. You shouldn't actually have to chew / gnaw the meat off a rib bone, it should fall into your mouth without much help. Most BBQ stops will mix yesterday's burnt ends into today's beans, etc. Not so at Barney's, it's like nothing has been slow cooked. So it seems great, and fools me year after year and I probably won't give up on it, but one trip per season is all I can endure.

Neat environment that made me feel like it was 1990s again. Laid back atmosphere. Waitress appeared to do everything, and was very knowledgeable of menu. Good lunch menu. I went with the combo sandwich. It was solid. A little fatty as itâs sliced, but good.
