The food is very flavorful and doesn't leave you feeling heavy. They have a nice variety of food to choose from as well. Something different from the humdrum norm for quick food.

Ive order the ribtip dinner, the ribtibs were just right not over cooked not under cooked,I enjoyed the smokey flavor, and the sauce ws just right not to spicy or to tangy.

I came to Jay Bee's because I saw this on DDD. I was really disappointed. The pulled pork sandwich had to much BBQ sauce on it, and the sauce was not great. The ribs where like jerky, very dry and tough. The chicken was good, coleslaw was very bland. It was really not work the drive to get over to the place.

Visited here for lunch on a weekday. Place was pretty crowded. Very rustic inside, trying to make ya feel like you're in a shack somewhere down South I imagine. Friendly staff. Very attentive. Prices are typical to most BBQ places. I ordered Combo with brisket and pulled pork which comes with two sides and either biscuit, cornbread or hush puppies. I got hush puppies, mac n' cheese and collard greens. The food was all pretty good. The brisket and pulled pork were decent but seemed to be lacking a little in real smoky flavor. Sweet tea was very good and the offer to get a refill "to go" at the end of the meal certainly rings try to how it's done down south. Not a bad option for BBQ but there are better places a little closer to Los Angeles.

I read about this in a local paper last night, and went right over today. I like ribs and brisket, so the nice young man at the window showed me the lunch specials menu, which offered a 2-meat plate and a side of baked beans. I also added a small mac and cheese, small potato salad, and their acclaimed dessert, The Golden Nugget. The total was $15.26. Although that was a reasonable price for what I had, it was still alot to spend for lunch--but well worth it.I ate dessert first. Their specialty, The Golden Nugget, is warm cornbread with banana pudding. What a great idea to combine hot and cold foods this way, and a perfect marriage of flavors. The pudding was rich and creamy, the best texture I've had. It didn't have pieces of banana in it, but not a problem. I think it was whipped, so that would not have allowed for pieces. Next time I will NOT get the small order! On Sundays they have strawberry peach cobbler--I'm not sure if that's both fruits together, or two separate kinds of cobblers. The rib was nicely cooked, tender and tasty. The bbq sauce came on the side, so I was able to taste the rib by itself first, and it passed my test. The brisket was not as good as the rib. Next time I will get a rib and a hot link. The mac and cheese was delicious. I tasted something like cayenne, which gave it a nice kick, and the cheese was just the right gooeyness. Again, no small size next time. The potato salad was too creamy for me, I like cubes of potatoes with little pieces of celery and hopefully some hard-boiled eggs. Next time I will try the cole slaw, or greens. To be honest I have to say that Bludso's in Compton has better ribs, but it is farther away. I would not hesitate to come to Robert Earl's again, and again. :-)That info was about the food, now here is info about the restaurant. It's one building down from the corner of Artesia and Lime. There is street parking in front (all taken this Saturday afternoon), as well as parking in the back. You can pull into their lot, but I didn't want to navigate the opening in the chain link fence. There are also about 3 spaces behind the building that's on the corner, but I didn't notice whether the business was open, so didn't want to park there. I found a spot not far down the street on Lime. You order from a window inside. That is in their address of 703. Then you walk through a door (see my photo) into the dining room, which used to be the address of 705. There are a few tables for 2, a few tables for 4, and a long communal table. I counted 26 seats. As the afternoon progressed, so many people came that they brought out 2 more small tables. When your number is called, you pick up your order from a different window in the main room. The people who work here are very pleasant and friendly. I could see from my receipt that Robert Jr. had taken my order. He spent a long time helping me navigate the menu, and never made me feel feel rushed at all, even though the line behind me had gotten pretty long. I am happy I learned about this local gem.
