Our first visit to Dungus McGeeâs. We had heard both positive and so-so comments about the restaurant and decided to try it for ourselves. We were surprised that they donât serve hard alcohol, just beer and wine. Not sure why? Good beer and wine selection with a nice selection of local vendors. Our waiter was attentive but mumbled making him a bit hard to understand. Food was served a bit too promptly. We ordered an appetizer which showed up at the same time as our entree. He kindly discounted the appetizer but throughout the meal we felt a bit rushed. The food was good, served hot and met our expectations. Nice seasonal vegetable selection! The menu was extensive and it was hard to choose- a good thing. Nice selection of salads, burgers, grilled meats and seafood. We will return again some day.

The location is interesting to stay the least, and for sure not your typical Texan cooking up the food - but cook it up he does - I have been buying meals there for years - for a variety of traveling musicians - all love it, and look forward to returning for more
Where to eat Bar food in Auburn: The Best Restaurants and Bars
I have travelled the country on business and have had barbecue in Texas, Kansas City, Memphis and South Carolina. I also own two smokers and do a lot of home cook barbecue. Smokeyâs has been my great option if I do not want to personally spend 6 to 8 hours doing my own cooking. His ribs and brisket are juicy and most of his sides are very good. I like the bake beans and potato salad. He uses oak to smoke all his meats which give a very good taste to the food.I am giving this 4 stars verses Franklinâs Barbecue in Austin Texas would be 5 stars. Some of the best barbecue I have found in all of the Sacramento is in Auburn!
Go look up Smokey Pit BBQ, this is a duplicate - the best BBQ in AUburn! We get their food as often as we can!
