We first came here in December 2015 and we couldn't pass by without stopping again! We both had the foix gras poele followed by faux filet. A truly exquisite meal and inexpensive. We will be back next year.

Monday evening in a quiet Angouleme. Looking for a restaurant outside the tourist menus and found this hidden treasury. A warm welcome with a smile of the Chef. The restaurant still looked empty at 20.00 but 30 minutes later it was totally packed. You need to love meat, but if so, the choice is excellent. Good food from a wood fire place in a nice down to earth ambiance. You will not regret your visit at this restaurant.

Thought would give this place another chance after disastrous service last year. Been here four times now, food is excellent BUT service definitely leans preferably towards the locals. We watched four tables of local French people arrive anything up to over an hour after us get their food 1/2hr before us?! I wouldn't mind so much but my French is not that bad so resent having to ask the waiters/waitresses numerous times where is our food only to eventually be told 'désole' another 5 minutes after literally a 2 hour wait whilst watching other tables of French order, eat and leave before we've had anything. Last year we had the same problem. Last year they even added stuff we never had to the bill to make matters worse. The food is excellent so was really hoping last year was a one off, turns out not the case. Did not see a single table of locals have to wait longer than 20 mins. They need to realise even foreigners can be returning custom. Shame as really enjoyed the food......eventually!!!

Nosied what the only customers sat outside on a grey, showery July day and it looked good-turned out to be their tarte of the day and had a good mix of salads on the plate including a wedge of watermelon....so looked inside and the place was busy, the menu sharply priced .....and dish of the day was lamb curry so it was settled for me there and then. We were fed a terrific value lunch....the curry was really well flavoured and not short on lamb. That tarte salad was good too... homemade celeri remoulade . Plenty of chilled water , lovely bread, vinaigrette in a Coca Cola bottle stoppered with a cork!.....looked like all locals in having their lunch. Very friendly service ...so all good !! Not luxurious at all but of its type a real 5 star place.
