Called in on a busy Bank Holiday weekend for Sunday lunch. We both ordered the Roast beef dinner and it didn't disappoint, great service, good food and friendly efficient service. Atmospheric, traditional English pub.

15Th Century country inn, grade 2 listed, private ownership and resident chef/owner since 1990. Range of local beers, extensive wine list. Award winning kitchen under personal supervision of owner. Situated in the centre of an historic conservation villag
Made a reservation for a Saturday night fortunately, it was rammed. Good choice of beers and wine as well as a comprehensive menu. Food quality was good and service friendly. Certainly return. Thanks Molenders. Your recommendation that bookings ahead are made is a valid one, and we do accept bookings which help us with our planning. Recently we have had a few "no-shows" which are frustrating - not only for us but also for hopeful diners who were turned away on the night. We may have to introduce a policy of only keeping a table for a few minutes after the agreed time. Marilyn suggests that there should be a website where we can register no- shows so others will know of their conduct. A recent article in the trade paper claimed that a majority of 25 to 35yr olds admitted booking more than one venue so they had a choice on the night, but didn't think it was wrong!Luckily it doesn't happen too often, if it becomes a real problem we will have to take deposits from those not known to us as some London restaurants already do. If last minute hitches occur we always appreciate a phone call to just let us know.Thank you for your review, and we look forward to your next visit, many thanks, best wishesDavid, Marilyn and Staff

A perfect spot for visiting the Peak National Park, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. The Peacock is located in the small, pretty village of Rowsley. We serve delicious food both lunch and dinner in the warm and cosy surroundings of our atmospheric bar. O
Itâs the kind of place you go for a special occasion. For us, it was visiting with a very dear friend. She loves to go there, and so do we when we stay in nearby Darley Dale. Very swish, with top shelf service. In an elegant setting, too. They have a three course âlighterâ lunch menu for £24. Some lovely choices, served with a side of bread with the crispest crusts. Mushroom soup, croquettes, terrine...great start. Fish and (hand cut) chips, braised lamb shoulder, cauliflower cheese...yumMille feuille, creme Catalan, tart of the day...great finish. Itâs no bargain but you get what you pay for. Look forward to next time.

The Druid Inn is a historic country pub situated in the charming hill village of Birchover, Derbyshire. Beautifully renovated, the pub is just minutes from attractions including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the market town of Bakewell. A short walk a
After a most enjoyable walk on Stanton Moor on a sunny Sunday morning, we went to the Druid Inn for lunch as this was very close to where we had parked for our walk. To our surprise, the restaurant was not particularly busy, but perhaps locals prefer the other pub in the village. The Sunday lunch menu offered two fixed price options for either two or three courses. The choices were a bit limited, and the prices were definitely on the high side. The four of us all enjoyed our starters, but the main courses certainly didn't justify the price charged. Perhaps we too should have tried the other pub in Birchover, the Red Lion!

Traditonal pub, with a modern twist serving a selction of well kept cask ales, and excellent pub grub.
A long way from home, we came to The Manners for lunch. Inside and outside it appears to be a no-frills pub. The food, however, is absolutely amazing. A high proporttion of items on the menu were either gluten-free or could be made so (important for us as one of us is gluten-free). One of us had cod wrapped in Parma ham with green beans and citrus cream sauce, the other had honey roasted belly pork on black pudding hash. Exceedingly generous portions, beautifully presented, exquisitely cooked. In decades of eating pub lunches and dinners, I do not recall one as good as this one at The Manners. With a side of veg, two lime and sodas the bill came to £33 - unbelievably good value. The super-friendly waitress told us that a husband and wife team own and run the pub and do the cooking. Well done to them and many thanks!A lovely place which we will be back to next year when we make our annual pilgrimage to the Rock and Fossil Fair in Bakewell.

We popped in here whilst out walking and was amazed for two pints and a glass of lemonade to cost £9.75 On further enquiring it seems that this was because the Heineken was £4.32 a pint - just too dear for me I'm afraid. There is a small area outside to take in the sun ...... should it be shining at the time of your visit. It was like going into a pub that my Dad might have frequented in the 70's. I won't be visiting again !!

17th Centuary coaching house serving home cooked food Children and dogs welcome
We booked a table here for Sunday Lunch whilst staying locally. Itâs so popular locally that there were only 3 Sunday Roasts left for 5 of us. It didnât matter as the remaining two chose differently.Itâs not fancy or stylish but it has the loveliest people running it! We were welcomed warmly & served quickly & very well looked after. The food was delicious. The chips were real too! Iâd recommend booking & then leavings plenty time to find a parking space in the busy village.

Called in here on the back of a verbal recommendation from a fellow walker. Very quiet Monday lunch but enjoyed delicious french onion soup with a melted cheese and mushroom warm ciabatta . Following a look at the evening menu decided to call back later for dinner. Not a huge menu but nevertheless quite busy and we enjoyed a tasty lamb tagine. Usual beers and wine selection. Welcoming and friendly with good service. No problem in visiting again.
