We called in here looking for a feed and found a haven from the rain full of yummy food and good ole fashioned friendly staff. A good number of food oprions to choose from. Some seating indoors and outside. We had the satay burger and cheese burger with fries and beer and a thickshake. Really tasty food and it certainly filled the gap in our empty stomachs. Had a yarn with the owner and she was cool to talk to, suggesting things to do, places to go etc. Pretty good value for money and would defintely eat there again if in the areaThanks for stopping in for some good food, always down for a chat about the area, it's an amazing place to be! Travel safe!

A Members Fishing Club on over looking the Pacific Ocean by the Harbour of Whangamata. We allow non-members during the quite season to come in and enjoy our facilities. We have a beautiful restaurant and new bar that is open everyday of the week.
On a night when the club was filled and almost overflowing the kitchen delivered its menu quickly. Alas the same could not be said for the one person taking the orders who was also distributing food to those waiting around. The queue to order was 20 minutes minimum, while the food came up five minutes after the order was placed. Something is wrong with the system somewhere. Perhaps the order taker has too much to do. Certainly others were frustrated seeing their cooked food sitting under the heat lamps while more orders were taken. That said, my fish and chips were good. Nice light batter over fresh fish, three pieces, none large but in total quite adequate, and good chips, crisp and served hot. Itâs help yourself to knives and forks; condiments on some tables. Meanwhile the band played on.I am disappointed in your review. This was Beach Hop weekend, were we served over 5000 meals in one week, this is one of Australasia's biggest events and one Whangamata is very proud of. We have over 120,000 people in this town, which usually has a permant population of approx. 4000. If what you are saying, your wait time was only 20mins in the que and then 5mins for your food thats a total of 25mins, lets call it 30mins for arguments sake, I know for a fact that you would have waited over an hour just for takeaway fish and chips and over 1 hour 45mins at at least one other restaurant in town! We are not a fats food restaurant, we serve good value food at a reasonable price, not to mention our bar prices, and we serve these to our over 6800 members nearly 365 days of the year. We are not New Zealand's number one Club two years running for no reason. Thank you for your feedback but again disappointed in the way you portray us in this review.

Ill be surprised if this place is still operating come Xmas. The town was full at Easter and all the hospitality outlets were busy, except this one...that should have told us something! The lunch menu is abysmal, half a dozen options all up including 2 burgers. Anyway, we ordered at the bar and after 40 minutes asked were our meals were...coming was the answer...a bit like Xmas. The meals eventually arrived and we collected cutlery from some of the many empty tables around us as there was none on our table and we weren't offered any. My advice...don't bother.

A typical unclassy NZ pub that serves beer.Dressed up with some nice memorabilia, and friendly staff that offer to give you a sample of their beer without asking. Meals are affordable. If you could put in a wish list it would be nice to have a little more though put into their beer garden.
