Enjoyed our visit immensely, lovely garden. 2 hunters chicken on our table, one was perfect but the other has yellow meat which was chewy to the max. Steak and guinness pie delightfulAvoid the black forest roulade, £6.25 and clearly from the freezer - found one solitary fragment of cherry and buried under squirty cream to disguise. Would return for a drink as the garden was so nice in the evening

Ourselves and another couple enjoy going to the cinema in Uckfield and normally go on to The Peacock for dinner. For a change, earlier this week, we decided to try The Lamb instead. On entering, the dining area was dark and unlit, the only other customer was a man seated near the entrance. Rather than welcoming us, the young lady behind the bar, gave us the impression we were a nuisance! Perhaps she was expecting an early night off as there were no diners? She made no effort and so without hesitation we left and drove back to The Peacock where we had the usual friendly welcome and good food. Sorry but we gave The Lamb a chance and wonât bother again.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here, I had the beef and my friend had chicken. Unfortunately they had run out of lamb but my beef was very tasty and plentiful, nice selection of vegetables plus Yorkshire pud! We had our desserts in the beautiful gardens, a cherry pie which was delicious and a apple crumble. Friendly and helpful staff and very good value for money.. I will return!!

Lovely country pub on the Ashdown Forest serving fantastic food & ales with a great garden. Seb, Dave & team offer a warm welcome and family atmosphere. Dogs friendly pub.
Visited here on a Sunday afternoon on the off chance.Nice pub. I had the roast, however beef and pork had finished so I opted for the stuffed chicken breast with stuffing wrapped in bacon. Large portion and surprisingly good as can be very dry. Proper Yorkie and the veg was fresh and al dente. Not to everyone's taste but preferable to soggy veg. Slight disappointment were the roast potatoes which were slightly hard in the middle and not crispy.Hubbie had the steak and ale pie. He thought with the amount of gravy on the plate it made the steak pie rather soggy. Not bad but not the best he's ever had.Due to the large portion size we didn't have room for any desserts but there was a wide range and they sounded good.Friendly atmosphere and will visit again.

We were a group of 14 which included 5 children. The service was friendly and attentive and the kitchen more than coped with the large party size I have to say when presented with the menu my first impression was that this was quite pricey. Being such a large group we gave starters and mains a wide coverage and everyone thought the food to be very nice. The fact that the food was very good did just about justify the pricing. Were this more local we would be regular repeat customers. Well worth a visit

Local pub, serving great homemade food. Live music every week, with live sport on 2 screens. Big garden/kids play area. Everything youâd want from your local
Whilst staying at a local caravan site four of us visited the Ringles Cross last weekend for a Sunday lunch which is a dvertised on their website at £9.95. We received a very friendly welcome, given their normal menu and told that a Sunday lunch was available with a choice of beef or pork. Two of our party asked if they could have a bit of both which was fine. The meal arrived and the food was an ok Sunday lunch. The two that had beef and pork basically had an extra slice of beef. We had desserts which were good. However, when we checked the bill (unfortunately after we had paid) we had been charged £11.50 for the pork, £12.50 for the beef and a whopping £18.50 for the pork/beef. We did go back and query the bill as £7 for an extra slice of beef seemed extortionate and we were refunded £9. Also for a small village pub the drinks were very expensive. Given this, although we will return to the caravan site we will not return to The Ringles Cross.Iâm very sorry to hear you didnt have an enjoyable day with us on Sunday. The website that you saw where the roasts are advertised as £9.95 Isnât our website. Itâs a shame that you thought the food was only ok because on my checkback you seemed happy. I apologise for the fact the mixed roast was so expensive that was an error on the till that has now been changed, so again I am sorry, and as you stated to did get a refund when that was brought up.

Victorian village pub next door to the preserved "Lavender Line" railway. Good selection of local and national cask ales and home-made food served daily. The pub is at the heart of the small community of Isfield and is the centre for many village events.
Had lunch with family. The pie of the day was steak and Stilton which was delicious, served with fresh vegetables. Also the quiche of the day with salad and new potatoes was lovely. Followed by chocolate brownie and ice cream. All food was homemade and reasonably priced . Staff were very friendly. Will definitely come again.Thank you for your lovely review. We're delighted that you enjoyed your visit, your food, and the friendly service, and we look forward to welcoming you again.
