Stumbled across The Pig on a Monday mid afternoon - absolutely starving from a long walk. Really welcoming service from friendly staff. The food was immense - pulled pork and crackling muffin with the best chips. It was perfect. We were so full but also the food was really good quality. Would love to visit again if we lived nearer!!

A lovely restaurant with outdoor seating in a little sun trap, we thoroughly enjoyed our visits whilst staying in Ambleside recently. The pollock with chorizo mash and seafood sauce was very tasty, as was the fish pie and also the tapas. Staff were friendly and attentive and we would recommend a visit to anyone who enjoys good food.

Lovely outside seating with oven for pizza cooking in the sun. Really nice place for a drink, we didnât eat. Only thing was could have done with a bigger bar team as the queue was a bit long for me but great place to head to if you want a nice drink with great people

We booked an evening meal whilst staying two nights at a dfferent hotel in Windermere. Nice greeting by the two gents behind the bar. Booked us in and arranged drinks. Taken through to the restaurant, again the staff were efficient, menu explained and orders taken. We noticed that the waiters needed towels to carry out plates so they must be hot, disappointed that our waiter didnt and our plates were cold. I had the suet beef pud with chips and peas, the pease were stone cold and my food quickly followed, our waiter did bring a dish of red hot peas. My wife had the special meat dish which was luke warm with red hot sweet potatoe fries. Very disappointing. We did get two drinks free to compensate. Wont go back

I had fish and chips - the fish was cooked extremely well where it just glistened as you cut into it, extremely fresh and well cooked. Hubby liked his food and the real ale was also very good. Its not clear when you go in if you order food at the bar or waitress service and as there was no menu on the table, we didn't even know if there was food available. This could be improved upon but not a big deal.My only criticism is a personal bug bear of mine - I don't like food served on boards/slates or anything else that isn't a plate.

Don't be put off by the laminated menus more often seen in chain restaurants - the food here is excellent and there are always interesting specials. If you want to sit in the main cosy bar areas you need to book. Service was friendly and welcoming.

The Crafty Baa Craft / Belgian/Craft beer fine wines Charcuterie Cheese Slates
We came here twice during our stay in Windermere and loved it. The owners were super friendly and even recognised us! As well as all the ales and beers to try thereâs great wine and delicious cheesy dishes - we tried the baked Camembert and the 3 cheese toastie - both delicious! Also loved the free bar nibbles and soda water that just kept coming :) the only tiny bit of feedback is that there isnât much on the menu for veggies - a few more non meat options would be the icing on the already very tasty cake! Thank you!
