Visited the Golden Fleece whilst visiting Thirsk with friends. The overall ambience was noted as soon as you enter. The staff were extremely freindly and made you feel welcome, menu is extensive and varied and served piping hot. It was also exstremely good value for money. I ever we are back in Thirsk we will certainly return.

Booked a meal for four using Groupon but even without this discount it wouldnât have been an expensive night out.Very friendly staff ensured everyone had a good evening. On another table someone ordered fish that was overly seasoned making it difficult to enjoy. I heard the management not charge for the meal without any argument. As for us all four meals were delicious, my partner stating she had one of the best steaks she had eaten. Plenty of vegetarian/vegan options for me so I was happy. Four different desserts all thoroughly enjoyed. If that standard is maintained Thirsk has a lovely pub/eatery but donât tell anyone because Iâd like to go back and not struggle to get a table.Thank you so much for this amazing review. We are so glad you enjoyed your time with us. We are all looking forward to see all again.Thank you. All Black Lion Team

Decided to eat out earlier than usual and dropped on the Scrumptious Seven early bird deal. Lovely selection to choose from and what we had was very tasty. I presume the portion sizes reflect the lower price when compared to the a la carte but I was comfortably full and they are a fantastic lunch time option. We were seated in the garden room which was light and airy. I can imagine the original pub area being very cosy during the winter months. Service was friendly and efficient. We took advantage of sitting in the pretty garden area outside with a drink to conclude a lovely evening.

Booked lunch on way to Scarborough, beautifully old worldly pub. Greeted with a smile drinks order taken and shown to our table. The choice on the menu should suit all tastes. We ordered the lamb shank and chicken which was delicious, lovely fresh vegetables and a scrummy cauliflower and leeks in cheese sauce. Give The Whitestonecliffe Inn a try well worth it. We will be back again.

Pre-booked a Birthday meal for my wife and myself but had mixed feelings about going on a Sunday evening after their popular Sunday lunches. Everything went well. Although busy with the residue of the earlier lunches we were warmly greeted and seated and theyâd reserved a nice corner table for us. I opted for a 20 oz. steak from the Specials Board. It was spot-on Medium Rare and excellent quality. My wife had a 10 oz. steak perfectly cooked to Medium and really enjoyed it. The accompanying chips were nicely browned and well cooked. Restaurants often undercook the veg these days but the Carlton had just the right balance leaving a slight crunch but a sense of being nicely cooked. The onion rings were superb - real onion in a delicate crispy batter. Service was really quick and couldnât have been friendlier. A pint of Theakstons with the meal was superb, very well kept. All-in-all an excellent choice for my wife and I at a reasonable price.

Ate here on a Friday lunchtime - It was fairly quiet but actually very good. One of our party required a Gluten free meal and this was extremly well catered for. The young lady serving was very friendly and efficient. Food was good quality, unpretentious and reasonably priced. If you are in the area, give it a go.

Booked this B+B after looking at the reviews and we were not disappointed. The room was very comfortable with tea + coffee provided. We ate on both of our nights and the food was delicious. Although it was busy the service was quick and all the staff are welcoming and friendly. We will go back.
