Great pub with gastropub credentials, charcoal cooker from spain, very assured cooking with a twist, real ales, craft beers, local ciders, belgium beers, cocktails, great decor , artwork and drinks, it can also seat 100 people next to the river. sawday wi
Took my son and family to this quirky, lively and friendly pub on the Somerset Levels. Hugely popular and deservedly so. The staff are attentive, friendly and efficient. The Manager, Alistair is great! The Sunday lunch was spot-on. Great roasties and creative veg. Puddings were a tasty indulgence. I like the way they source their wine. All-in-all the best pub for Sunday lunch (and probably all those other meals, too)

The King Arthur isn't what I expected in terms of look and feel, but the roast dinner was one of the best I've had in a pub and the price was excellent at £9.95. The gravy was thick and plentiful, huge selection of veg, delicious cauliflower cheese and the yorkshire puddings were homemade and incredible. They had a large selection of beer and cider and it was nice to see that they were dog friendly. Aesthetics aside, my only real complaint was that the crumble was really disappointing. We had the last three and all of us felt like there wasn't enough crumble (the best bit) and the berry/apple mixture was really too tart, hence the 4* instead of 5. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be back for a roast!Thankyou so much for taking the time to review us Tamsin. We are really pleased you enjoyed your roast!! We recently tweaked the crumble as it was apparently too sweet and too much topping.. so maybe we need to re-tweak again.. hard to find the right balance to please all.. we look forward to welcoming you back again soon. We live in Weston Super mare, & our good friend live in Yeovil, so we chose the Ashcott as a half way point. On arival we were told that their supplier for some foods had beeen held up on the motorway, so a couple of things were off the menu. But no worries! They had added more to the specials board ! We ALL agreed it was one of the best "Pub" restraunt meals we have had for a long time .

I came here with eight friends for an end of season skittles do.Have to say the pub is very nicely decorated with a warm feeling too.We all had either steak, gammon or burgers as well as a few starters and knickerbocker glory to finish.Every course was just superb, tender steaks, lush chips and plenty of it too.We would all come back here again without hesitation.Hi Maddoyle Thanks for the great review, we are over the moon that you all enjoyed your meal with us.See you again soon.

3 out of 4 of us chose the chicken gougons and we did very well - the batter was crispy and light and lovely chicken breast inside made for a great dish. The chips are worth a mention as well, crispy and not greasy. Would go there again and prices very reasonable as well.

We had less time in Glastonbury than we had hoped, so I checked Trip Advisor and booked with only a couple of hours' notice. The place was busy, has a good atmosphere, varied clientele, friendly and efficient service and a good drinks list. The food was plentiful and enjoyable. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the burger and I the entree-sized Meze board, which was too much as the main meal for me. It was filled to overflowing with delicious dips, spreads, veggies and bread.Despite this, I managed to fit in an Affogato, one of my favourite after-dinner options, which I only tried as I had never seen it offered with chocolate ice cream before.I enjoyed it very much and found the combination of chocolate ice cream and Frangelico delightful. The best meal we had on our first trip to Devon and Cornwall.

Recommended to us by the owner of a holiday cottage nearby, the recommendation was worth it for the quality of the steak I enjoyed, along with the chips and the accompaniments. Not the biggest range of food on the menu, and if my wife was writing the review she might have given 4* as the lasagna was not to her taste (plenty of mince, but only one layer of pasta, and to her taste a rather thick coating of cheese on top). Portions quite large. Would have liked a "lighter" option for desserts, the three on offer on the day we ate were quite stodgy so we settled for just coffees. Booked a table as it was a Saturday but it wasn't overly busy (in June but before the Glastonbury festival) and our reserved table (along with several others) was in the bar area near the kitchen rather than the restaurant area. Never-the-less quite pleasant surroundings. Service was unhurried - occasionally difficult to get the waitress' attention.
