second visit to this bar in stranraer very pleasant staff ordered bar meal fish chips beans ,coldslaw onion rings excellent pub grub what i like plenty on the plate fish cooked lovely nice atmosphere in the pub will beback often now every time we drive into stranraer good prices.

Upon checking website noticed service closed at 6:00 on Sunday so rushed to ensure arrive in time. Upon arrival well within time, were advised service finished at 5:00. Spoke with barman who initially said kitchen was open however after ordering drinks told no food was available. Told him website information and board outside pub timescales and all he said that he would need to change this! No apology so we left without eating and despite previous visits being satisfactory, we will not return.

Stayed there 3 nights. Very helpful owner. Bed not so comfortable and shower room quite small. Well placed to visit places of interest without having to drive long distances.Breakfast served in the conservatory was excellent with good choice of well cooked food. We wished that the Dinner had also been served in the same room as it was a bright and airy room. The restaurant/bar while being quite atmospheric made you feel more like you were in a pub to eat pub food when that wasn't the case. The food was excellent. The menu changes but on one night the change menu had 2 dishes unavailable - on a fairly limited choice( but sufficient variety) any way that shouldn't happen.

Lovely hotel overlooking Portpatrick, public rooms all well laid out and beautiful decor, bedrooms to match. Breakfast was excellent too with views over the Irish Sea. Few niggles but none too serious to mention (each to their own) Well worth a visit- recommended

This was our first visit to the Custom House and we really enjoyed it, the team were all friendly and the food was hot and tasty. Spoke to Charlotte on paying my bill and she couldnât be more helpful, even told us the pub was dog friendly! See you again soon. Hi Queenvee_111, great to hear you enjoyed your visit to our pub. We all really enjoyed our food. Menu had a great selection but staff were more than accommodating when we asked to go off menu. My wife is coeliac but was able to eat with no issues as they staff were understanding and informative. Chips cooked in their own fryer which means she was able to have them which is not always the case. Also when we received bread to nibble on she had her own gluten free bread which he have never had before usually she just gets left out so it was a really nice touch. Would definitely recommend and will return if we are in the area in the future.
